Caleb,

Tufram was a coating used on some of the earlier aluminium handled knives. The current coating is Almite.

Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow, in Australia it's tomorrow already.

A quick sideways segue; has Spyderco ever done a hard anodized finish on aluminum, like the CRKT M16 or the Outdoor Edge Magna? The finish on my M16 is just about bulletproof. 18 mos in the same pocket with change, and not a single mark.

Tufram is fun...

I heard about this from another forumite(but can't remember the name)... use your fingernail and scratch numbers in lightly. They come out if you wipe the handle(ie t-shirt).

I've been using the Tufram coated Cricket, serrated, since March. I've had it around grease for the last 5 months, and it's holding up better than my ladybug.

it's been dropped about 6-7 times, it's even gone in the laundry!

I had the Cricket clipped IWB and got off work at 3am, after 3 nights in a row, and just dumped my clothes, heading to bed. left everything in my workclothes.

Well, I got up about 9am, laundry done, and my (still) wet cricket on top of them. I stripped it down faster than you can list the provinces of canada, and oiled it for about 20-30 minutes. Put it back together, and now a month later there is still no sign of rust.

Even with the hard life it's gotten, the tufram has ONE small spot on it, from the time it fell while I was on the ladder. Fell about 6 feet, landed on the spine, small dent in the edge of the scale.

It's bulletproof I tell yah.

We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...
