I can't remember if any one hs threaded about this before, but I know it has came up a little bit. What is your favorite multi-tool?
Mine is the leatherman squirt I bought from Radioshack were instead of pliers or scissors it has wire cutters, wire strippers, and niddle nose pliers combination wierd looking thing, but I can only find it at Radioshack and not on the leatherman web site. My other favorite multitool is of course the spyderench mainly, because it has the cresent rench on it, full size screw driver heads, and the knife I can open with one hand. Which is odd because usually I don't use the knifes on my multi-tools.
Sorry I don't have pictures to show you guys :o , but I am sure there's plenty of people here that has plenty to show :p :D .

I'm kinda partial to my juice s2, though I'll have both a gerber recoil and that LM you just mentioned (the radio shack special) coming. Can't get that LM up here, had to get one of my forum contacts to pick one up.
For general use, the juice is great. Had been carrying it for the screwdrivers, but that's been fixed with the vnox cybertool 29 in my pocket :p now I just carry it for the pliers and scissors. LM crunch rides in my fatboy for any real use, lot easier on my hands.
Since I only really need the pliers, the recoil will be great for freeing up my hands, just flick, hit and go. The RS LM will save me from using my knife to strip wires :o

Jonny,
I too like the Radio Shack electrical version of the Squirt - I remember wincing at the price, and trying to wait them out, but the darn thing never went on sale. So I held my nose and bought.
I also like the Leatherman "Crunch" very much for the locking pliers, and handy wire stripper. It's a model that never really seemed to have caught on and I'm wondering if they're going to disco it soon

I carry around a Leatherman Charge Ti in my bag.

I've been looking at the charge or the wave for some time now and I can't really decide on which one I want. Since the pliers on my squirt aren't always big enough for some jobs.

I have the best of the "multi-tool worlds". I have a VICTORINOX Swiss Tool and a Spyderco Spyderench. The 2 of them together truly is a Dynamic Duo. There is hardly any handyman type job that I can't do with them. They truly do compliment one another really well.
I truly wish that the Great Spyder Factory would contemplate possibly making a more conventional type Multi Tool to go along with the immortal Spyderench. The Victorinox is truly a nice solid and very versatile tool.
I have heard a rumor that there is another Spyderench in the works>> please tell me it's true.

I used to like the big blunt nosed Gerber, but now I can't imagine why
I currently carry the original LM Wave, (pre-2004) or sometimes a LM Fuse.

I have a Leatherman Wave ,first-gen and carried it for a long time at work.It came in very handy on many occasions, particularily disconnecting battery posts at MVA's.My chief complaint however is the fact that I find it heavy on my belt.As a result,I have been not carrying more than carrying. What is a great, lighter model?

As far as light weight and compactness, I like the Swiss-Tech type 'mini tools', the ones that have just pliers and screwdrivers (like the Micro-Tech). I have an older jeweled Sheffield model that has a phillips and flat head directly integrated (not swing out like newer models) into the handles of the pliers, which fold up around the plier. I can carry it anywhere. The small number of tools also means that the ones it does have are relatively robust for a tools that size [comparing quite favorably to the Leatherman Micra someone gave me.]

When I want something lighter then my Wave, I carry a LM Fuse.

I can hardly feel it on my belt. It has everything I need at work, & nothing I don't. ;)
When I'm up in the Mountains tho... it's a 1st. gen. Wave!

I hope there really is a new Spyderench in the works. :)

For the weight, I still think it's kind of hard to beat the original Leatherman PST or PSTII. I have to admit that I have picked up one of the new Waves. Best thing about the new Wave / Charge Ti is that the knife blades can be used without first opening up the pliers .. Wave and Charge Ti are nearly the same except of course for the Ti .. feature and the blade steel used in the Charge Ti .. It's slightly better, but the Wave can be had for a relative bargain.

I EDC a squirt (with scissors), but my favorite 'real' multitool is the LM Pulse, it has just the right tools and nothing I don't use, in a carry-friendly package.

I've actually gone through a few multis so far...
Victorinox Spartan Lite
Leatherman Squirt P4
Leatherman Juice C2
Leatherman Micra
Leatherman Blast
Gerber Multi-Plier
the only ones that made the "cut" (hehe) so to speak?
the Micra and Blast, the Micra's a permanent fixture on my keyring, and the Blast handles the bigger stuff
the Spartan Lite is in the center console of the car, just in case, the Squirt i gave to Dad, i traded the C2 for store credit, as the blade sucked and the pliers weren't as good as the Blast, and when open, the Juice was only marginally smaller than the Blast...

I have a Leatherman PST I bought in a hardware store next to the Brooklyn Bridge on the Manhattan side, the store was shadowed by the WTC, it's been my constant companion since 1994, whether in my tool box or on my belt. I also have and like very much the Leatherman Crunch.
Cheers,

I used to carry a Leatherman Super Tool (old model) from time to time. Now I occasionally carry a Leatherman Sideclip.

LM Juice, LM Charge XTI, Micro-Tech Key, SOG ParaTool. ParaTool is my favorite. Light and has all the necessities. Would love to get the Spyderwrench but hard to find for a decent buck ... :D

I have a LM wave II. But don't use it much. When you use the plyers and slip, it bits the skin
I feel it's like "Does everything, excels in nothing!!!" kind of gadget.
That is why I love spyderco's knives and my ARC-P

Hey Native Justice
I notices that you live in Lakewood CO. When July rolls around Spyderco has their big factory sale of used and discontinued knife. You might want to try to get a spyderwrench there. I got mine there last year for a whoppin $20.00  :D :p and the only thing wrong with it, is that the blade has play in it when you open and close it.

My multi-tool is a LM Juice S2. Fairly small, adequate tools to use when in a bind. I have real tools at home for any serious work.
Also, it's ORANGE. :D I seem to have a soft spot for orange.

SOG Powerlock with the Compound Leverage is the toughest I have see as of yet. Favorite by a long shot. I use it for "beater" stuff I wouldn't subject a knife to.

Leatherman Wave. Sits right next to my Inova XO, and just above the Dodo. Can't even remember how many years I've carried it, but must have been around a year or two after its first release when I got it.
Have been eyein'-up a Leatherman Charge XTi mostly because of the bigger more practical blades, but the only thing keeping me from buying one is that I know I'll never use them ;) :D
