Hi Incubus. AUS is usually a trademarked steel made by Aichi. I am not familiar with AUS-118.

AUS118 is a steel that is used by CRKT on only one, or a very few models of their knives.
On paper, it looks like potentially a decent cutlery steel. It has: .90 to .95 carbon;17%-18% chromium; .50 manganese; 1.3%-1.5% molybdenum; .04 nickel; .50 silicone; .03 Sulpher;and, .10-.25 vanadium. Apparently it is best used at an RC value of 59-60.
It pretty clearly should make a blade superior to both AUS6 and AUS8. It doesn't have as much molybdenum as ATS34 or 154CM, but it does have a decent amount of vanadium. It has less of both carbon and molybdenum than does BG-42. None of the steel charts I have list VG-10. I think maybe it's composition is listed on Fallkniven's site.
I've never had a blade with this steel, and don't remember much having been posted at Blade Forums on the subject. Given it's relatively high carbon and high chromium, I believe it is being designated by CRKT as a premium steel.
The URL for CRKT's "steel facts" is:

Hope this helps a little.
