Hi this is my first post on here and just thought id say hello . I live in the east of England UK and have just bought an Atlantic Salt to take out and use when im at sea , so far its spot on and does just what i need oh and i also tested the H-1 steel :) the first time i took it out on the sea i let i dry naturally and left it 24 hours and not a spot of rust , superb . So now im going to ask my dealer for a Scorpius as i got to handle one last night and its just what i want for everyday use oh then its a UKPK thats next on the list , then a Manix  oh dear what have i got into . Some of you may have seen me on britishblades and bladeforums under dunc5 so hi again if i already know you :)
Cheers

Hi Duncan, welcome to the madness! :D
The Scorpius is great, the PE is an excellent utility folder for me and I just got an SE version, 'just for kicks'. :D

Welcome in :spyder: land, Duncan!
To have the first spydie is like drinking the first glas of water - you need it for the rest of your life :D
Please tell a little bit what are you doing on sea. Sailing?

welcome to the forum, just out of curiosity how are British knife laws? i know some in the US are totally rediculous and i'm somewhat happy i live in FL where they are rather vauge but pretty loose.

Welcome to the forums Duncan and enjoy your stay. ;)
The Scorpius/SE is one of my all time favourites. As a matter of fact I have it clipped to my pocket as I type this. The serrated Scorpius is one heck of a cutting demon  :D

Hello ebbingtide, and welcome to the forum!
I like the Atlantic Salt too, it's just too big for legal carry around here  :(.
Did you get the yellow or black handle?

Thanks for the warm welcome guys . The reason for going to sea is because im a volunteer member of a inshore lifeboat crew , im not sure if you have the same things in other countrys but in my spare time at evenings and weekends im on pager which is linked to Her Majesties Coast Gaurd which will recieve the 999 call ( 911) to anyone in trouble at sea and if its in our area we get paged . Luckily we are not very busy but as the summer draws nearer it very may well do . We are tasked upto five miles out and after that the RNLI ( Royal National lifeboat Institution ) ALB's ( All Weather Lifeboats ) deal with it .They also have their own inshore boats but we are toatally independant and raise funds locally .As for the UK knife laws  Correct me if i get it wrong but its anything under 3 inches with a none locking blade with a reason and a very good reason for a locker
Thanks
Dunc

Yellow so if i drop it in a boat on a rough sea i can quickly find it again , guess thats why they make them in yellow . Finding a black knife on the floor of a boat with 3 or 4 pairs of black boats thundering around isnt good .

sounds like most north-eastern US Knife laws. i think in some states even non-lockback knives over 2" are illegal. it's rather rediculous.

I seem to be late to the party. Welcome Duncan. That cute dolphin handle can also be used as a pain compliance tool.

Thats handy to know as it doesnt look that way so it doesnt look like a weapon , cheers

Welcome aboard! Congratulations on your knives, I think you'll find your Salt to be indespensable. As for the dolphin handle on the Scorpius, I think that was just a funny coincidence. Spyderco has a reputation for desiging knives around ergonomics and functionality before thinking about form or style.
