Hiya Deacon

Shocking, I know, but I have yet to buy a kiwi. I think I am in the market for one but don't want to settle for a mere SS or Jigged bone, I blame your collection for this :p . The reason I come to you is this: Looking at the Santa Fe kiwis at NG, the only two in stock that catch my eye are the Bloodstone and the Azurite. I looked on your site and you have an Azurite...which looks great. Do you have any exerience with Bloodstone? Based on the NG pictures the Azurite seems to be more interesting and the Bloodstone simply looks red. Do you know if that is basically true for all bloodstone. (I know each sample varies, but in a crap shoot like this, I'm trying to go with the odds of the best looking). So basically do you know if Bloodstone tends to be plain red looking or does it have a chance to be as interesting as Azurite?

Anyone else can answer as well please. The above is addressed to the Deacon as I tried to PM him, but his messages are full.

Anyone know if bloodstone looks good?

Hey Zen... Can't help ya on the Bloodstone, but I will say this.... I too was without a Kiwi for the longest time... It never really caught my eye... But, I gave in and bought a SS... WOW... Never knew what I was missing... Heck of a little blade... Now I too am looking at the stone ones... Reckon I can blame the Deac on this... LOL...

When I read your tread's title, first thing I thought of was Paul.. Open it up and you start out with a Hiya Deacon... Made me laugh....

Good luck on your stone Kiwi search and be sure to post a pick when ya pull the trigger on it or them......

Yeah unless it somehow knocks the Kopa off the top shelf for me, I think I shall only be getting one, but I hope to make that single one to be the best looking I can find...pics will be mandatory. ;)

hmmm thanks J Smith...I can't decide if it looks like antifreeze with rust spots or something that would look really cool in a Kiwi. :)

Kiwiholic that I am, I was planning to give Mike a call on that one today. :o I strongly suspect that the Kiwi they have listed as bloodstone is not really bloodstone. It looks suspiciously like the red coral one I have and red coral is one of Santa Fe Stoneworks' "standard" offerings, while bloodstone is not. Plus, as per Jeff's photo, bloodstone is a dark green stone with flecks of red in it. The more red, the more valuable, but it is extremely rare to see a piece with more than about 25%~30% red in it.

I do have a slab of bloodstone on the way to me though, so someday you may be able to decide how it looks on a Kiwi. ;) :D

Yeah that makes more sense, I have a marble of bloodstone...with tiny flecks of red in a green sphere. Otherwise the wholy red one would be worth a pretty penny I reckon.

Of the Kiwis that are available at NGK, I'd recommend the Azurite or the Malachite, they look prettier than the others in my opinion.

If I had to choose one, I'd say the Azurite hands down.

You guys are killing me!! I might have to break down and buy ONE Kiwi. But, it has to be the prettiest. And a little something, something GREEN or BLUE (Azurite) would make me happy.

Hi Scott, I was leaning towards the Azurite, but I had to check in on the Bloodstone. I'd really like to get the Dino Bone as it looks the best and it is dinosaur for crying out loud, but I see it is sold out. :(

Is there any chance a kiwi could ever have a clip attached to it? I love the way they look, but really appreciate a clip sometimes.

Santa Fe sells the Dino bone direct I believe(a lot pricier though) and you can periodically get them on Ebay for a little over $100.

You got me wanting one now, I may have to pick one of these Kiwis up as well :p

I doubt anyone could ever be disappointed by any of the SFSW Kiwis. I'm partial to my MOP version. For a long time I wanted to add both an Azurite version and Bloodstone/Red Coral Kiwi. But for me, the Kopas have and are filling that particular niche. :D
