Hi all,
Ive just purchased my first Spyderco its a Native LWT and I think its a great Knife,
My Fiance also likes it and wants a Spyderco for EDC and work, she is unsure about either the Ladybug or Dragonfly, I prefer the plain blade but I have never used a combo so I can't help.
Any Suggestions?????
And any Spyderco users carry Surefire Flashlights???
Clint.

I have never held a dragonfly but the lady bug is very small. Made for putting on keychains. I find it wasn't very useful just a great thing to have with you for very small jobs.

Caleo, welcome aboard...
I have both, and enjoy using both...
Got the Ladybug (50/50) in Feb
Got the SS Dragonfly(plain) on Aug 20.
The Dragonfly is fighting my Cricket(serrated) for 2nd favorite spyderco and I'm afriad it might win. The shape doesn't draw too much attention(any knife draws some), and is the right size for most tasks.
2 days after the SS Dragonfly was purchased, I was in ordering the c52 calypso jr lighweight. Same basic shape, but an extra inch.
You can't go wrong with the dragonfly. I already gave the ladybug away to my sister and it's on her keys for the last month! She loves it, but 4 spydies on me is all I need.
We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

I use the Ladybug more like an Exacto knife, but if her knife will get a bit heaver use, I'd go with the Dragonfly, or Calypso Jr., or Delica ......lots of choices.

G'day Caleo,
Nice to see another antipodean here . Been a bit cold down there the last few weeks? I'm off to Perisher for a weeks skiing on Sunday so the change in the weather pattern through August suits me down to the ground.
My wife has a Ladybug which she uses for everything from cutting threads to making peanut butter sandwiches. I've offered her a larger knife but she's always declined. She likes having her knife on her keyring because she always knows where to find it (except when she loses her keys ) and says she wouldn't carry a knife in her pocket or IWB. OTOH I really like my Dragonfly. It is large enough for most tasks that a knife is needed for and has excellent ergonomics. I'm also very partial to thin, flat ground, plain edge blades .
You can't go wrong with either (or any Spydie for that matter ), but I think the Dragonfly is probably more versatile.
Take care,
Clay
Don't worry that the world might end tomorrow, in Australia it's tomorrow already.
Hi Caleo. Welcome to the forum.

I would say because I have had it longest and because it is on my keyring, my Ladybug is my most used knife, but some of the others are catching up fast.
One advantage of the Ladybug is that it is very sheeple friendly. It is so small that many people see it as a curiosity or a toy - looks can be very desieving. Although on another occasion I was expecting to be in the office but ended up on site. Some vines needed to be cleared from a tree and the Ladybug was all I had. Let's just say that in a less than ideal situation the Ladybug aquitted itself well.
All that said, if I was to choose between the two for a utility knife, I would go with the Dragonfly ...... but also have the Ladybug on my keyring just in case

I like the Ladybug as a neat little knife, however it's a bit too small for my tastes and is often a backup. I would definitely go with the Dragonfly or other medium sized knife for primary EDC.
Welcome to the forum, also!
Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.
