the laws in the u.k involving knives are some of the worst i have heard of and living here when all the politicians are trying to ban all knives, is the biggest pain in the a** ever.

today whilst walking roung my home town of Cheltenham i saw six posters advertising a knife amnesty "if you turn you knife into the local rozzer station between may 24th and june 30th you will not be prosicuted" now do you really think that some scummy acne ridden white lightning drinking asbo receiving thug is going to turn in their rusty old £1.50 knife that they use to threaten people with, NO honest citizens will hand them in

the police have also started to put airport style metal detectors in the middle of streets and are scanning as many people as they can.

i feel that the way forward would be to produce some kind of liscense for collectors so that we can carry our high quality, well looked after pocket knives in peace without fear of being arrested. then when they metal detect people on the street with a 3inch knife you can just pull your liscense out of your pocket and show that your knife is used as a tool and not as a form of threatning people!

the liscense would not be the hardest thing to get but if they made you pay lets say £25 for it and did a small background check i would not mind as i can not see one of these thugs taking one out at all.

in short search people as we have nothing on us we should have to hide but use the liscensing so that only genuine people have knives on them and the thugs carrying rusty old knives, kitchen knives or stanley style knives that the won in the fun fair would have them taken off themand not the honest people with a spydie, benchmade, almar, or better!

For once I believe you could use these stupid knife laws to your advantage. Get yourself on of these posters. Put it on a big box and start collecting knives door to door. You might collect some nice ones that should be rescued from this amnesty idiocy. Afterwards you can bring all the crappy knives to the police and get yourself a sheeple award.
I wonder if it is true that when the last knife is confiscated in the UK it will sink into the sea never to be heard of again.

Gee, I really envy you

When all knives are confiscated, will there be an amnisty campain for forks? hammers? 2 by four's ? mag lights? baseball bats (sorry, cricket's bats!!!)?

Will it be illegal to close your hand to form a fist?

   :D   :(

Believe me we have our fair share of baseball bats... I agree though, all this knife amnesty rubbish is just that, rubbish.

This is one of the scariest posts I've read on this forum. Metal detectors in the streets? I hope they realize the mistake they are making. If that ever happens in the U.S. I'll move to another country.

We need to cater to the lowest/stupid/sheeple denomenator - this seems to be the new way of thinking. Not good. It is also affecting the education children are getting today.

I never thought a knife was such a big deal - I grew up with them. With the new way of thinking about knives being bad/evil as the norm eventually the children today will believe that knives are for killing and criminals only. This really scares me.

What I find scary is people saying they would rather be liscenced (registration) and that they would move.

Registration leads to confiscation. I'd think that was obvious by this point in history.

Move? Where to?

The liberty of self defense? Treat it as a RIGHT. Owning and carrying implements that can be used for self defense should not be infringed due to the actions of those few who choose to misuse them.
