View Full Version : Finally received 2 Militarys and a Cricket and some flaws

Hello,

after a nine week period of waiting for my two black Militarys, both plain, and a SS SE Cricket, I finally received them yesterday.

First the Militarys:
The Militarys are from April 2006 and have a new jimping on the thumb ramp. It's the same as on the Manix 80mm. I've found some flaws that disturb my enthusiasm a little bit. Both Militarys had side to side bladeplay, which I tried to fix. But as I tightened the main pivot screw, the main pivot turns around :( . So I took both apart and found out, that both main pivots on both knives are damaged :mad: . And I found no PB washer :( . Is it possible to get some replacement parts from Spyderco?

Now the Cricket:
It is smaller than I expected, but I love it. No flaws, no bladeplay. And it fits my hand perfectly. Maybe I'll get a second or a third :D

I received a new Para Mill several months ago direct from Spyderco. It had some vertical play in the blade and the lock was just a bit off. I sent it back to Spyderco and it was made right. AS far as the PB washers go I have yet to get one that had them, doesn't make that much difference but when they say pB washers are supposed to be there that is what you want.

What do you mean when you say the pivots were damaged? As for the pivot turning when you tried to tighten it, you have to put torx drivers in both pivot screws to tighten or loosen the knife.

The flat surface is rounded, so that it can turn around in the liner.

I think you should contact Spyderco directly and ask about it. Sending the knives back is not really an option but you could send the pins if they are interested.

Today I received my second package from Spyderco with the replacement parts I ordered for my Military. The first one was a mix up with some parts for a Para :rolleyes: . Now everything works just fine. Thank you :spyder: Crew.

That's what I wanted to do with the damaged pivot after I put a new one in. But unfortunately my camera doesn't do extreme close-ups :mad: . I've tried, but it didn't work. Sorry :( .
