I can't help wondering if it manages to be as creepy as the original.

I think 90% of how scary the original was came down to the soundtrack and that eerie chanting choir. (My sister and I figured out that the way to bear it, as little kids, was to turn the sound way down. All the scariness went away then.)

If the remake is going to be creepy, it seems to me, it will have to have that soundtrack. But then I figure if it does, it will be derivative and lean too heavily on the original.

I would like to know just how much of a remake this is. Does it run right over the same path as the original, or does it change the story and/or the details?

Well, it's been a long, long time since I've seen the original but as i remember it, the new one is as close to an exact remake as you can get. The story unfolds in the same way as the original.

For a remake it was pretty darn good (but I liked V for Vendetta better...but that's a different sort of movie).

I'm kinda interested in seeing the movie Pulse. It's a remake of a (SUPRISE) Japanese suspense/horror flick that was intesting in premise but was not a good movie for this country because the social interactions they showed between characters wasn't believable to our American sensibilities.

But the trailer for the remake was SPOOOOOOKIE. ;)
