I have been a fan of Glock pistols for a long time now, and own four different models - 21 22 23 30. I have recently been given clearance (by my lovely wife) ;) to make a new purchase. I have always wandered if you truley acheive a better quality firearm with the Sigs & hk's by spending the extra money ($200.00 to $300.00). It has been said many times before that all three manufacturers are in the same family as far as quality and durability is concerned, but wow!! what a difference in the bottom line.

So needless to say I am debating with myself if I should pick up a new USP 45acp or even a P220 (Sig). I have heard alot of cross talk on how one is better than the other ? but from were I sit, out of all the different torture/durability tests that I have seen conducted with the Glocks...is there really any reason why something should withstand more crap than that.

Your feedback would be greatly appreciated :)

One thing I can share as well...having spent too much time deployed in Iraq, I often saw plenty of "independent contractors" carry model 17's & 19's.The 9mm cartridge was the most readily available of coarse which is what deligated the use of those two models.I spoke with some of those guys, primarily in the D-fac and they all swore by their Glocks.

SPEICHER 04,

Sir, I have a bunch of Glocks, and I think they are great!
I have seen/handled Sig's and H&K's, and they are great pieces also. I believe a lot of the price difference is due to machining costs. The Glocks have a fairly simple machined slide and barrel, and a relatively few other (molded) parts.
The H&K USP slide and barrel has a bit more machining involved, and more parts in the action, giving it more flexibility in setup (more lefty friendly).
The Sig is a Rolex. Much more machining, polishing and fitting, all of which cost money. The result is a beautiful machine which happens to launch bullets. Even if it didn't work, it would STILL be beautiful.
I will never fault anyone for buying Sig or H&K, but personally, I would rather buy a Glock and spend the difference on ammo (or another :spyder: ) ;)

I have had a Sig P226 for about ten years. For many of those years I made it to the range twice a week, so seriously I'm sure I have run many thousands of rounds through that gun.

All I can say is that I have several other simi autos if I had to pick one up and put my life on it that it was going to fire the P226 is the ONE I pick up.

If you have a chance to take one apart - do it! It is so simple that is will add to your confidence in the wepon.

All that said I have friends that I'd trust to pick out great wepons and they like H&Ks too.

Regards,

I don't know about other Sigs but I had a P220 for a while and it was nice but it sat a little to tall in the hand for me.
While on the subject,I just got a Remington 870 HD.Been wanting one for a while.Looked at them last week and they were 279.99 this week they were 319.99.Anyone heard why they jump in price that much.
