I did it, I bought the Merlin. The salesman held the Harpy and Merlin right in front of my nose and it was really hard to make the choice. I chose for the merlin because it's smaller but what do you think, should I've taken the Harpy instead?

As that wise sage Alfred E. Neuman used to say, "Don't worry, be happy!"

Think you're having a touch of buyer's remorse. The best thing about that on knives that aren't super expensive, is that soon you can buy the other one too.

Merlin is good! Merlin is good! Harpy can wait! Harpy can wait!

Don't worry you made a good choice. In fact I have just decided that I need a PE Merlin in my daily rotation. Have to go out and get one now. Thanks and enjoy.

Well where I could buy them they were both just as expensive. I could buy one of 'em. Actually I still can buy I don't want to give away that much money fast, I wanna keep somethin' left.

I know my Merlin is still as sharp as a razor, but could anybody tell me how to sharpen this baby just in case I might need it, and what kind of bench stone I'd need for that? The Merlin is in weird kind if shape so I have no clue where to begin sharpening. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Make sure your next purchase is a Spyderco Sharpmaker 204. It is one of the few sharpeners that excels at hawkbill blades like the Merlin. It even comes with a video that shows how to use it to sharpen many types of blades.

Did you buy the plain-edged or serrated version? The PE Merlin is now one of my favorite EDC. Great for opening snack bags, cutting string, and clipping newspaper/magazine articles. I still have to figure out how to slice sandwiches, steak, and pizza with the curved blade.

toothed&gt; it's not hard to cut pizza with a curved blade...

I use the kitchen knife(although the curve is slightly less on it) to do most things.

Just tilt your wrist up(about 30degrees) to allow the end of the curve to hit.

We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

Maybe I'll buy a Harpy too. I wanna feel them both in my hands.
