As the Forum resident Lefty Whiner ( self proclaimed Bozo ) , I thought it would be nice to see what knife is their favorite Spyderco being offered in the 2006 catalog , can be sprints or soon to be released models coming out this year ! Has to be just ONE ! Surprise ! My vote goes to the Volpe , I'm a sucker for wood overlays , framelock , new steel type , and the beautiful blade . Thought I'd pick a lefty , go ahead admit it !

I am really excited for the Calypso III.

That is really confining to make me pick a FAV of this present era 2006. Because it is like I said before>> I think that the Golden Era Of Spyders was 1998 to 2003. But I have thumbed through the 2006 catalog and have come up with the yellow handled, plain edge Tasman. I find myself using it more and more on a daily basis.
Is it my all time favorite?>>> no not even close >> but keeping the Hawkbill tradition alive I will go ahead and give the Yellow, PE TASMAN a vote. Probably the only vote it's going to get >> but when you think about who's casting it then you can realize that controversy follows me closely.
But for honorable mention I will add the Burgundy Calypso Jr. ZDP model.

damn that's a tough question...
as far as knives that are already out that i own i think i'm going to have to go with the Centofante 4. the same handle as the Centofante III (which i think may be the damn nicest FRN handle ever made) along with the same almost razor thin blade now styled in a Wharncliffe fashion makes for one nice knife at a very good price. i imagine it would be nearly as good as a SD knife as it is a all around full-size utility knife.
i don't think the Centofante line gets the praise it deserves, but i will say i have heard nothing but good things about it. even i didn't realize how great it was as it was the second knife i got in a splurge buying period of about two months when i went from 1 Spyderco to 14 so i didn't have a chance to really use it as i had 13 other knives to use.
now as far as knives that aren't out yet, i think the Captain more than any other am i looking forward to. i love small knives (of which i own: Kiwi, Cricket, Meercat, Toad, and Dodo), but recently carrying my Centofante 4 and Volpe more i am really hankering for more large folders. i think part of that is how much fruit i've been eating at work and how much better the larger knives work for cutting than my "little big" knives. i also love hawkbills and if you don't count my 3 reverse-s blades the only hawkbill i have is the Harpy.
so the Captain being a large hawkbill that also has a bellied second edge makes me a very happy boy. just wish it had the same lock as the P'kal, i don't love liner/frame locks. i like my locks outside of the path of the blade.

Nice call JD , briefly handled the Tasman on Friday . Always thought the the blade in pocket would bother me - not ! Ordering a SE model on Wed. finally got sucked into Hawkbill mania !

oh and just to add one thing, the only thing i'd change on the Centofante.. a polished SS pocket clip. it would go great with the bug on the handle and i hate the black clips. mine already looks like it's been through war and i've carried it maybe a total of 5 days.

Hmm, 2006.
The ZDP Chinese Lum. I love my green one, and I can't see why I wouldn't love a ZDP one! (As long as it comes out in 06)
For me right now, though. I'd say, the new Horn. This is the first Jess Horn I've ever had. I need to get a micarta or jigged one! Or both! ;) What a nice design! :)
Maybe the Lava or P'kal will get the vote when it arrives!

I'm looking foward to the Caly III. The VG-10 version will be very nice, and I'll most likely get one, but the CF/ZDP-189 version is the one I'm really excited about. Please Sal, make the blade solid ZDP, not laminated :D

I would say the sprint Chinese, even if it is going to be black instead of orange ;)
As for currently available, even though I don't have one, I'd say the Adventura. I think it represents everything Spyderco stands for.

Dear Friends,
If you include the catalog supplements, I have to say that the Pikal would be my favorite. (Since the Superhawk status is yet unknown.)
Of those currently available, it is a tie - the Tasman Salt and the Ed Schempp Kris.

Superhawk.
I'm hoping it makes it for 2006, but I'm not all that optimistic, so my close second would Tasman, followed by the SWICK.

Assuming that I understood Sal correctly at the Blade Show, the Schemp Camp Knife should be out in 2006. That gets my vote. Awsome blade!

I was always a fan of the Delica and the blue Delica IV in ZDP is their best in the line (at least so far), so this one takes the cherry. This, or the CF S30V Millie (my preciousss) ;)

Dialex , the Military was a toss up for me too , except I had the clip switched to lefty so I did not feel it would fair to list a modified model , it is really a fantastic model .
