Does anyone know if there are plans to make any serrated/CE ZDP knives? I'd absolutely love to give one a try.

No CE or SE yet...or the foreseeable future (unless Sal has something even more special up his sleave for the ZDP Endura they have planned for later this year).

I've read it's a grinding issue.

That's what I was assuming might be the reason. I hope it's just a rumor. I neeeeeeeed a new serrated blade.

Last we heard it was in the works but they wouldn't commit publically to a particular model. It's not clear if that's because that way they can slide it to the next model gracefully, or if it's because it's associated with a project they want to keep secret in of itself.

Waiting for my ZDP Civilian...

This may sound stupid, but if your looking for serrations,...
One word... SALT.

Seems to me that the characteristics that people like the ZDP-189 for are found in the SE H-1.

I've been looking for an SE or CE knife made with ZDP steel for quite some time now.

It's really funny in a way to me too because "super serration patterns" is one of the foremost hallmarks of the Great Spyder Factory.

I'll be buying an SE or CE blade with ZDP-189 steel whenever they come out. I bet the first run of those will be a collector's prize ;)

Waiting for my ZDP Civilian...No offense meant, but the Civilian is the last knife I'd think might benefit from ZDP, unless perhaps one is a professional assassain. I am curious as to why you consider extreme edge holding be a desirable characteristic, worth extra money, on a knife that, hopefully, will never be used? Am also not sure how well the paper thin tip of the Civilian and the relative brittleness of ZDP would play together.

If anything, I would think the Civilian would be a better candidate for H-1. That would eliminate any chance of sweat induced rusting and the theoretical possibility of edge degradation over time due to corrosion there.

The H-1 knives are a great option if you need an SE blade. VG-10 is also fantastic when serrated, and it can be found on plenty of good knives. However, if you decide to hold out for serrated ZDP, I can't blame you. A knife with that combination would be an impressive cutting machine indeed.

Please please please be a native or something equally awesome!

I would be happy as hell with a solid ZDP-189 SE Delica. I imagine it would be like a pocket chainsaw.

Deacon, I agree with the overall message of ZDP vs the Civilian (esp. H1 instead!), however I am curious in what way you mean relative brittleness of ZDP? vs VG-10?

Granted the ZDP tests runs are only really getting started, but I can't seem to recall any of those "I just bought a Spyderco and the crappy ZDP chipped" threads occurring. On paper it may be more brittle, but until tons of folks started lamenting their ZDP chips, I'll be listening to Sal post #187: http://spyderco.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17653&page=13&pp=15&highlight=casual+bombshell
