Meh, if the carjacker didn't make the *concious decision* to attempt to carjack his "victim" then he wouldn't end up blinded/extra crispy, he has no one to blame but himself...

i see no problem with this system, the carjacker made a concious decision to commit a crime, he has to live with the results, don't want to end up blind/extra crispy, then *don't* carjack, simple really......

How the hell did you stumble across an 8 year old article? At that time the article came out I was studying with a guy who had lived with his family in a "rich neighborhood" on the outskirts of Johannisburg and who directed me to this article. The number of carjackings were so staggering in South Africa that this feature actually did seem to make sense to him.
