It's my understanding the new BG-42 military has thicker CF handles and phophate-bronze washers. Has anyone compared the opening of the two? Do the PB washers make the military open that much smoother and faster?

I hated the thin, orange film (teflon?) washers on my military. I thought the opening on my old military was gritty.

yes the new BG42 milie is definitely the smoothest to date with its new PB washers but I never really found the G10 models grippy compared to the first CF batch with the S30V which was the grippiest milie I've ever used.

I found the BG42 to open a bit smoother.

I usually just lube with Militec to add smoothness to my knives anyway. Usually loosen the pivot, apply excess lube, let excess drain out overnight (carrying any leftover manufacturing FOD with it), then tighten pivot to desired level.

Gritty pivots are usually just due to FOD in the hinge, in my experience anyway.
