I was curious about the numbering of the first models. As I understand it they were:
1001 Worker
1002 Mariner
1003 Hunter
1004 Executive
1005 Standard
1007 Police
1008 Harpy
1009 CoPilot
My question is: why no model 1006 (or 6)? Was this just an unused number or a "lost model"? Thanks!

I know, I know, I know (waving hand frantically in the air) . The CO6 was to be the Yachtsman, with a sheepsfoot blade, marlinspike and a new lock. It never reached production but we can still hope .

Thanx Clay. Some more info. The lock was given to a patent attorney for application. The attorney got sick (cancer) and disappeared. It took us several years to locate him and get the patents and their info back. The patent office had declared them dead and we're trying to reinstate some of them. One of them has since been patented by another company. Not exactly like ours, but enough that ours would now be an infringement. We've since redesigneed and developed the original lock and believe that it is enough of an improvement to get a fresh patent, time wil tell.
We've since put a sailing knife back on the R&D project ist.

Clay, Are you a sailor? Maybe I need to set up a "Who's the sailors" thread to help us with desireable features?

Sal, I've done a bit of dinghy sailing and I'm in the (very long) process of building a flat-iron sailing skiff. Although a sailing knife doesn't look quite right without a marlin spike, I've never found one very useful as I use braided line which can't be spliced in the usual way. I would like the knife to include some sort of shackle key, especially one which would fit small shackles. Also I prefer a plain edge sheepsfoot blade which can be tapped with a mallet to get a clean cut (I've always got my Harpy for emergencies ). Hope this helps.
