View Full Version : Loose Meadowlark Screws

I just received two G-10 Meadowlarks from one of our favorite dealers. One is for me, the other is a gift for a friend. Upon inspection of the two knives I was pretty happy with them until I decided to make sure that all of the scale screws were tight. I broke out my torx set to test them and found that one screw on each of the knives was very loose. When I tried GENTLY to tighten them down they just kept spinning. It appears that they are stripped straight from the factory. I was pissed to say the least:mad: . They are going to be returned, but I was wondering if anyone else experienced this problem and found another remedy. Thanks.

Sal:

Thanks for the reply. Please excuse my previous irritation in the last post. I was able to take the screws out of the scales on both knives and applied blue Loc-Tite to the threads and reinstalled them. They seemed to take hold. This should fix the problem for me. The Meadowlark is very nice overall. I realize that these Byrds are the inexpensive line and that quality control won't be as good as Seki or Golden. That said I am truly impressed that you took the time to reply and look into the problem. As an aside some of the paint on the pivot (not the torx side) wore off after laying the knife down on a table. The finish looks very uneven and has almost a tacky feel as if the finish was too thick and did not dry properly. Sorry to bring that one up too. Thanks again. Spyderco is great:D .

Well I have a Cara coming and this makes me a little nervous. I sure hope the screws stay in after they are tightened.

I have a Cara and a Meadow both in G10. I've disassembled the Cara because I could, but both are very nice looking (interior and exterior :) ), and there were no problems with the screws what so ever.

I hope this puts a bit of stress off your minds. :)

My G-10 Meadowlark AND Caly3 (FINALLY:D ) came yesterday. First thing I did was flip the clips on both. No problems for me.
