What has your experience been when sending your Spydies in for repairs or complimentary sharpening? I really want to send in one of my Paras and a Calypso Jr. for some TLC, but I have read stories of them “getting lost” while in transit. Any thoughts on how to disguise the package or discourage any dishonest postal workers from kidnapping my knives? Is the price for S/H per knife or do you think I can send them together? What was your average turn around time? Thanks.........HAPPY NEW YEAR!

i sent my delica 4 in for sharpening -- no problems with the mail at all. they did an outstanding job. took about 7 weeks door-to-door, if i remember correctly. only sent one knife, so not sure about the fee for multiple knives.

7 weeks is a long time. I don't know if I can go without my Para black PE for almost 2 months.

Yeah they are back logged, or were when I sent my Harpy in. It took about two months for mine too. Fortunately I have plenty of others to choose from.

I guess I can EDC something differant for awhile. My new Millie CF BG-42 or my Caly 3 should do just fine. Maybe I'll through my Persian into the loop. Come to think about it, maybe pull out some "old school" Spydies. My Blackhawk or Renegade haven't seen daylight in a awhile.

Senorex,

The other solution might be to drive or fly up for a few days, visit the SFO where they will sharpen your knives on the spot, pick up a few new knives while you're there and call it a weekend. I have a sharpmaker but I find myself in the SFO often and try to remembber to bring my knives along that need a little touchup. The folks in the SFO do a great job and there's no charge for the service. 'Course, it can be difficult getting out of the store without buying a few new knives but that's part of the :spyder: addiction :D

all the best

I sent in two knives last summer, an s30v military, pe, and my old frn integral clip delica, se. The military was bought used, and had a horrible hand-sharpening job and was very scratched up. They put a factory fresh edge on it and buffed it or something, it looks much better. I was interested to see what the delica would come back looking like, it had been used/sharpened until the serrations were pretty much gone. This knife came back looking new also, I can only assume they re-ground the serrations, I was impressed. It did take a while, though. No problem for me, I had plenty of other knives to carry.

OK. I'm gonna send in my Para PE black blade to the factory. This knife was also bought used. I took it to the local mall cutlery store to get touched up and it came back worse. It is in need of some TLC. I will just add postal insurance and pray it arrives.

anything can get stolen in the mail, even though many organizations are really trying to stop this. if you want to be sure don't put spyderco on the package, just put a dummy name or none at all. Another thing is ship it with UPS or fedex. though even these guys aren't that safe. thogh much safer and they have much better logistics than usps.

the complimentary sharpening that spyderco offers is great, but its easier and alot less time consuming to just sharpen it yourself. For the price of shiping you can buy a hone, and just read online tutorials.

get signature confirmation on it, ive had much fewer problems with the books i sell, with this option.
