Anyone know how many units where produced of the CF Millie w/ S30V steel? Is it around 1,500, like the BG42 version? Thanks!

I believe it was 400.

400 units! I thought the ebay seller was just blowing smoke when he claimed only 400 units were produced. I really need to score one of these. No wonder I'm in a bidding war on ebay right now.

If you get tired of the war then just pick up one of the three this guy has left at $149.

I second that - only 400 pieces in this production run :)

I don't buy knives to collect just to use. Would it be wiser to go for the BG42 steel or s30V steel military from a user perspective? They would be about the same price purcahsing from that ebay store versus the BG42 from NGK.

Nothing to add here, just wanted to brag:
I HAVE ONE! (Thanks my friends!) :D
Oh, and no, it's not for sale. ;)

I agree with Dialex, that's certainly one of my favourite Spydies. The peel ply CF is absolutely great, great, great! :D

(BTW, Dialex, welcome in the EU, my friend! ;) )

Go for a Military with BG-42 steel if you want it as EDC/user - IMO the better one! (And don't care for collector minds):)

I agree with Peter for 2 reasons. First of all that model CF Military with S-30V is so rare that using it would be in essense shooting yourself in the foot. Because within a couple of years that knife should have some serious collector value. Also I am pretty sure that was Spyderco's very first knife with the Peel Ply Carbon Fiber handle. Those 2 qualifiers put it in the collector category. I think that there were about 4 times as many of the BG-42 variety of that knife made from what I was told. I have also heard that Spydeco's heat treatment of the BG-42 turned out great. I have also heard some of the hard core "metallurgy guys" over at Bladeforums really sing the praises of BG-42 from a user standpoint. I know I'm in the market for one ;)

Would not buy from this guy. I had to go through a PayPal dispute to get a refund for a returned knife. He always retaliates when given a negative feedback to top it off.

Thanks JD and Peter. Looks like I'll be ordering the BG42 in a few weeks. Just need a few more paychecks....

I hope your issue was an isolated incident:confused: . The seller has excellent feedback according to ebay. I ordered the S30V CF Milie after seeing the previous posts. Will let eveyone know how it turns out.
