It's my birthday today so I reckon it's OK for me to bore you all with a story. I mean that's what us old blokes do at birthday parties isn't it?
My Year 7 classes (first year in high school, 11 or 12) are designing and making acrylic ornaments to go on a key ring. As usual I've been fighting a losing battle in guiding then towards designs which are simple to make and finish and which will look reasonable. Then I remembered that Sal had designed the Cricket to feel like a worn river pebble in the hand. So today I got the boys thinking about the stones they had skimmed over water (fortunately all of them had ). I even showed them my aluminium Cricket as an example. The result was the best selection of designs I have ever had from a class, I can't wait to see the finished products.
Thank you Sal and Spyderco. May you continue to produce innovative designs that will be an inspiration to us all.
