is there any difference between these knives besides the handle materials? And if that is all that is different, than why two different names?

the blade is 3mm thick on the harpy vs. 2.5mm on the merlin, is the biggest diffance i can see.

they're named after bird of prey... that's really cool! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle> Personally, I think the SS Harpy's a classy Spydie! <img src="wink.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

just pick up a Harpy and a Merlin and you will feel the difference. while the merlin may be a good knife for some, the Harpy is 100% bombproof and rock solid. I have a g-10 harpy and it is my absolute favorite and most used knife. I almost got a merlin but found a good deal on the harpy and could now kick myself for even thinking about the Merlin. I cannot praise the harpy enough. if you are even thinking about getting a hawksbill do yourself a favor and forget about the merlin. get a g10 or SS handled harpy there is definately a world of difference.

I forgot which one but the blade is curved a little bit more on one than the other.

The Merlin is tip up and the Harpy is tip down.

And my vote goes to the G-10 Harpy too, if you're trying to decide between them.
