View Full Version : Spyderco's triumph over switchblades

I recently received the Spyderco 2002

catalog and marveled at the "Salsa" and

"Lil' Temperance" with their "nested"

compression lock(s), as well as innovative design(s)( especially the "Lil'

Temperance, being designed by Sal himself ). Again I rail against the switchblade

as being "old hat" ( for sentimentalists );

as soon as that spring wears out all

one has is a gravity knife ! The future

of one handed knives lies, I say, with

Spyderco. They pioneered the "opening hole"

, clothing clip, and, of course "Spyderedge".

I am just curious forumites, as to the

official release date(s) of these two

models, as well as the price(s). In the

meantime, I'll have to settle for an

"Endura" ( as my search for the "Shabaria"

has proved fruitless ) from my local "out-

-doors" store in the New Haven area.

Spydie fever, catch it !

Sincerely,

A.E.T.

You say Spyderco has &quot;defeated&quot; the switchblade!?!?! Man, what are you going to tell us next, that electric lights are here to stay? ;-)

Allen, be very careful looking at that catalog. It can be addictive although looking is fine. It's the buying that causes all the problems. I speak from experience as do all who frequent this forum. BTW, if you want to shop the net, www.bestknives.com still shows the Shabaria in stock.

Good shopping.

We have nothing against switchblades. They are novel and have some unique applications. I don't know that there are any real advantsgres to a switch over a Clipit, other than the &quot;cool&quot; factor. They are, however, illegal to make in Colorado.

well, one thing is for sure... You don't want the switchblade to accidentally fire in your pocket.. Which why the clipits are safe and fast.... <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>
