As some of you know, I've being studying to go back to teaching.
Well, what do you know, just today, 6 different teaching positions have been offered to me.
One I would really like is in a school not too far from my home, with 6 and 7 years old boys and girls.
I am meeting the school's principal on Monday morning @ 8am. Another one in the after noon and the school board human resources director @ 3pm.
Talk about a long day. At least, I will be able to relax because I booked some spa time @ 6pm.
I will be exhausted.
If everything is ok, I should start Monday morning.
When things change, they change quickly....
Anyway, I just wanted to let you know and ask you to wish me luck...
Take care you all...
Simon
BTW: Before you ask, there is no real legislation here regarding knives and school. But I won't be edc'ing anything during the day accept my Jester. But I only have the old FRN one. Maybe it's time to upgrade and get one of those nice Micarta ones.... I know there used to be a place on the web that still sales them.......
I hope it goes really well for you Simon. You must have a lot of patience:). I don't think I could ever be a teacher. I bet you do great!!
Ron

Best of luck with it.
FWIW my daughters kindergarten teacher had kitchen knives and utility knives in the room(hidden away of course), and when I was doing a craft(in the back room) I used my Yojimbo to cut some stuff and she liked it a lot!
Congrats and best of luck Simon!

Thank you all for all your nice words.
I must admit I am quite nervous. A lot of things are changing in our family life and things are moving quite fast.
I know the positions they offered me aren't the easiest ones. I will have to deal with children that didn't eat breakfast. Little immigrants who don't speak french (or English for that Mather) cultural clashes is also on the menu.
I won't be easy. But if I wanted easy, I would have not changed job, wouldn't I?;)
I'll keep you updated...

I GOT THE JOB
I am taking a couple of minutes to tell you that starting monday at 8h10, I will start to change something in the universe.
As a mather of fact, this week has been incredible. Thuesday, I got a phone call. The Montreal School board have not less than 6 teaching position to offer me.
Even though my degree is not even half through (Still 6 classes to go, at 2 a year... You do the math:p ) well, I got an interview this morning and got the job.
It's gonna be a class of 18 kids in their first elementary year.
The school is in a very poor area of Montreal (St-Michel). They are mostly Haitian and arabs. They often come from broken families. Some of them don't know who their father is.
Gee, Just this morning, they have found a little 7 years old boy on the front lawn of the school, frozen and lost. Nobody in the school knew the boy. It took 1 hour to make him speak. I was there. Long story short, he came from Ville St-Laurent and was going to his mother's boyfriend's grandmother. He didn't know her. He was going there because he has been evicted of his school for having thrown snowball and punching another kid in the face. His grand mother came to pick him up. We never knew how he travelled nearly 15 kilometer from home. He had no socks and just wanted to go back to Katimavik, his own school.
All along, he kept watching his watch saying he had 2 minutes left to go to school. His watch didn't work. Sad... I could have cried.
World is filled with poor disavantaged kids.
I'll try to do my best.
Take care and love your loved ones...

He was very confused. He said as a consequence for being evicted from school, he said his mother sent him to live with his father for 3 days.....
