You'll love it. I've had mine for about a week now. It's giving my A.T.R. a run for favorite Spydie. What configuration did you order? Mine is Black blade SE.

Yeah, The Para is definitely a keeper! As far as the Spyders I own, I have to say that the Para is the most solid-locking one I have. Love that knife!
Congrats on the purchase.

Oh come on, cut your food budget to make room for knives or just work at a restaurant and mooch thats what I do.
I bought my Caly3, Co-Pilot, and Para from Savson and was very pleased.
The Para is awesome and I recommend highly.

I ordered a satin PE blade. I think the para will be best used as my "outdoor" knife. I carry a navigator2 for edc. but wanted a little more blade for backpacking, hunting, etc. Seems lightweight and tough. G-10 should be comfy to hold in really cold weather. I just can't wait.
I love my Para!! I have a PE that I use as a camp knife - cutting food, string etc It works great, hope you enjoy yours :)

I really like mine, very good knife!
I got one question, does it have washers? Mine doesn't have them, do yours?

Be glad they don't do the picture-torture on you, that's what really do you in.

I feel your pain buddy, I too am on the spyderco diet :p ... and I often think that the only reason I attend college is so that I can get a job that will afford me more money for knives.

I'm looking at coming back to Spyderco and purchasing a Para. Can anyone tell me if it is as hard use as my CQC-7? I need a knife that can pry, stab, hammer and cut comfortably for long periods. Basically I'm looking for a tank-tough knife I can trust as much as my CQC, but with a Spydie hole. All input is appreciated.

It's funny, I was really excited about my Para when I first got it, but now that I have a Pacific Salt, I feel like I have the "uber" Spyderco. It's my old favorite....the Endura now rust proof. Now my Para sits in a drawer....

sounds like a mini manix or full size manix may be more what you are looking for.

I agree with what others suggested. I love my Para. However, my mini-Manix is about as robust as you can get.
I would check one of those out.

If you are looking for a CQC knife you may want to check out the Chinook. Much stronger lock than the CQC 7. The liner lock on my Commander is useless. You certainly don't want the lock to fail in a combat situation.
I also agree with the Manix.
Let us know what you decide.

Lookin at the Chinook I'm concerned about tip strength. I don't want to be afraid to pry open a stuck window or remove a tire from its rim with my knife. As for the mini-manix it looks like it may have the tip strength and it definitely has the lock strength. Gonna have to handle one to see if it's a match. Any other Spydies you'd suggest for heavy duty abuse. And Whitefeather is right, although my CQC lock has never failed me, there are better systems out there (that was hard to admit to).

You might want to check out the A.T.R. as it has a more robust tip. I hate to say it, but I moved away from Spyderco for hard-use, because I felt their most rugged knives lacked in tip strength. Give the Mini Manix a sheepsfoot or tanto blade option and they'd be there with Striders, IMO.

I got a Para a couple of days ago and it is built to take a lot of hard use. I owned an Emerson a few years ago and I would say the Para is its equal.
