I would like to see if other knife nuts like me are also into other "things".
Pens - I've spent more on pens than I did on my education.
Guns - I've spent more on guns than I spent on my house.
Tools - Tons of high quality hand tools and I don't even change my own oil.
Watches - I should have bought Big Ben, It would have been cheaper.
Flashlights - I could light the evening sky with all my Surefires and Fenix lights.
Golf - I'm a decent golfer with a basement full of "The Best" equipment.
I don't think I am alone here. At least I hope not.

Well I've got the flashlights and tools covered. To me knives are specialized tools. Each knife has it's strengths and weaknesses. My flashlights are SUREFIRE as well. Gee you must have a job with a hefty 6 digit salary to feed all of those addictions. Between my Spyder collecting, Surefire Flashlights, My interest in fishing and hunting doesn't leave much for my 401K or any other retirement fund.

But brother I hear you loud and clear. It's like the old beer commercial used to say: "You Only Go ARound Once In Life So Grab For All The Gusto You Can". That's why I just stick to Spyderco and a select few from 2 other brands but mostly Spyderco.

Oh by the way did I mention my new addiction to Archery. Matthews FX compound to be exact. Well if I did get into watches I would probably shoot for a Rolex or some other fine, Swiss made Gem. Your heart is in the right place brother. And being here at this Forum is the right place for you as well :) Welcome to your new home Sir

I'm pretty reasonable when it comes to my stuff. I can keep myself in line most of the time. With the exception of spending more on knives than I do on food, theres only one other thing I ever find myself blowing money on.

I've spent way too much money on older video games that are outdated anyway. But I just tend to like those older games, and end up paying 3 times what they're worth to get them.

I know Axlis can appreciate that;)

Nope, just can't afford or care to buy stuff I don't need.
Knives are a bit of a exception though I like my users best.

OoooooH know the feeling....
Over 3,000 bladed weapons
27 Handguns
8 Flashlights
20+ Watches
58 Zippos
at one time a while back 6 cars ( I was the only driver)
4 Shotguns
22 Antique Bronzes
over 100 different style ChopSticks (Including Piere Cardin Designer Steel Sticks)
over 35 different style fist holds (Kubatons, Lady Fingers, Brass Knucks, ASP Baton Key Chain, Stinger, etc)
76 (30x40) Paintings

So I guess I collect a few things

I truly believe that everyone in America should have a firearm for every birthday, and I am doing my part! :D

Pens - well, I've been carrying the same Parker Stainless Classic for twenty years now. I still buy something else once in a while, but I'm not sure why.

Movies - okay, you caught me on that one :o Probably have about 500 between DVD, VHS and (wait for it...) BetaMax.

Tools - just because my toolboxes outweigh my truck doesn't mean I have a problem...:D

Golf - What's that?

Watches - Have about a dozen, one of which even works ;) I wear the same Seiko Automatic Dive watch for every occasion.

Flashlights - Fortunately, there isn't a Surefire dealer within fifty miles. I stay broke enough as it is.

well lets see maybe about 70 :spyder: to date, my only other collection are my tools. i used to buy alot of them, power tools hand tools specialized... you name it. the spycderco addiction has actually curtailed the tool buy quite a bit. that and maybe i am starting to have most of the power tools that i need:rolleyes: . for hand tools i go with craftsman ( i know there are better brands but when they break no questions are asked just here is a new one, which i like) power tools i usually stick with delta, dewalt, porter cable..higher end brands just because they tend to last longer. as far as cheap tools i have been getting from the harbor freight tool catalog...i know they are made in china predominantly but in certain tools the cost versus toughness of a tool that i would only use maybe a handful of times is worth the risk. so i guess my answer is yes...TOOLS...lol

I like small well made things. With knives I tend to actually collect them. With others I am content with just buying one. I have a Fischer Space Pen, an 1GB OCZ "Roadster" USB drive, a Leatherman Wave, and an ARC AAA. These I always carry with me. I'm contemplating buying another flashlight but usually I just stick to knives and toys.

Besides knives, I like:

-Video Games
-Manga
-Anime (don't really buy Anime, but I've got a very kind friend with an extensive collection that lets me borrow)
-MTG (Magic the Gathering, stopped buying in 1999, but I have several thousand cards)
-musical instrument, not to collect, but out of love.

I'd say I collect cars. I only have two to my name right now, but I'm still in college and I've had at least 6 cars that I've claimed to be mine since I started driving (at 14, and I'm now 22) :D. My favorite is the 77 Mercury Cougar I have parked at home, definately the slowest of the 6, but extremely well built and nothing can replace that huge 70's car feel :D

I also collect hotwheels and car posters and I used to build model cars all the time :D

And I also have a few guns :D

Funny you mention this, I just found my collection when I was cleaning out the house. Forgot I even had them.

It's funny, when I get mine out and go through them I get this urge to start collecting and playing again, but only one person around here plays

I have a KILLER blue deck made up, it's my "control" deck. It's made up purely of counter spells, control magics (take control of other players creatures) clones, 5/6 flying Dijnns (these are what I mainly clone:D ) and other assorted blue annoyance cards.

The deck's just a little over 50 cards, so I get what I need quick, and take "control" of the situation. :D

Mine was a swarm/defensive deck. I had a whole bunch of 1/1 creatures, and lots of mana. Only time I'd lose is if I couldn't get enough creatures out fast enough. Ideally I was putting one or two out each round. They'd die quickly, but I'd be chipping away at my opponents life.

Welcome aboard, Rex!! I think that learning to play golf thing is a lifetime course........it's just flog spelled backwards anyway.

Knives....too many to remember
Seashells......boxes and boxes stored away now
Golf Equipment........way too many woods and just odd clubs
Books, Books, and more Books
Tools!!! Need more tools!!!
Dogs.....2 Goldens, 1 shepherd/collie mix, a Dodger-dog, and a white German shepherd on the way. WooHoo!!!
DVDs and LDs....about as many as Hans - well, maybe 1/2 as many LDs now
Too much stuff.....not enough stuff holders!!

Oh yeah, I'm into pretty much all of those. I've got quite a small collection of straight razors too (hey, there just a specialized knife). If I had more money, I'd have more of each plus some more "hobbies" and collections. :D

Hmm... It seems spyder lovers are drawn to the best, maybe thats why they use spyderco in the first place! Anyway, next to knives the largest consentration of my money would be insterments... High end guitars and mandolins mostly, and a nice banjo too. :)

I recently went to an indoor shooting range and shot some handguns/revolvers for the first time and I really liked it. In 10 years that will probably be a hobby.

For now:
-Knives (mostly Busse right now)
-Lights
-EDC gizmos and gadgets
-Computer games (I play Red Alert 2 way too much :D...wish I had a new computer to try out STALKER and C&C3 and UT3 and so on)

Collecting...you caught me!!

Knives (Spyderco primarily): Approximately 40

Comics: 4 long boxes full...soon to add a fifth box...
Flashlights: Been able to keep myself from buying a Surefire or Streamlight so far...but I can't resist a cheaper LED every now and again...

Watches: I refuse to even think of those as collectible otherwise I'd be at the Fossil store almost as often as I'm in my knife shop!

Guns: That's what my dad collects and for what I would pay for one handgun, I could have between 3-6 Spyders!!! (No contest on this for now!)

Cars: My first love...I've had a few, but until my income bracket jumps severely, I am choosing to forget that performance parts exist...

All for now...please don't give me anymore ideas of collectible items!! My wife will kill me and we'll be broke!!!

Yes Cscoop, I have an interest in a few other areas....

Would like to start reloading for rifles and shooting more again, just started varminting again after a layoff. Bought a new 870 for bears as I hike, bike, and camp alone alot.

Take on home improvement or vehicle maintenance jobs so I can save money while adding to my tool chest, last year the truck got a new clutch and I got an impact wrench. This year a new kitchen and...

Am partial to Surefire flashlights after getting started on Pelicans, then Streamlights, and finally to Surefires.

Yeah, I'd definetly say you're not alone, along with more than a couple of forumites. :)

hmmmm. . . i think my biggest pre-occupation is with perceived quality. . . . the stuff that i buy -- i basically just want to make sure it satisfies whatever requirements i have for it (and hopefully, does it extraordinarily well).

i have a handful of knives. . . three spydercos. . . a small case (baby butterbean) that i got as a gift, and an old leatherman supertool.

i have two fisher space pens (a bullet, and the telescoping bullet).

a surefire g2z. . . a 1973 triumph bonneville. . . a sig p220 (with galco shoulder rig). . . a ruger sp101. . . an old mosin nagant. . . a romanian sar-1 (AK variant). . . a crumpler messenger bag. . . a chrome messenger bag (have to have something to keep my camera gear dry on the motorcycle). . . a few moleskin notebooks (i like their design). . . . pretty much all of this stuff was bought to fit a certain need i had at the time and it seemed like i struck the best balance between functionality, cost, and quality.

those three things are what keep me coming around here so often.

i have a couple hundred DVDs. . . and maybe 2,000 CDs (not burned copies -- mostly just stuff i picked up here and there. . . helps that i know people that work at record stores.

tons of books, magazines, and a good deal of camera equipment as well (the camera equipment is growing since i'm moving into digital). almost forgot about that, haha.

i guess i don't really count myself as a collector as much as an appreciator of the few things i enjoy and find myself buying.

it's been really interesting reading what you other folks are into, though. . . keep posting!
