(preface: All this may have been thought of already by
the friendly geniuses at Spyderco).

Based on what little I've heard about how the
duckfoot will work, it seems that the sharpening
angle on the outside edges could be adjusted
but placing a shim under the middle "rocking point".
Perhaps the instructions could include information on
the exact thickness of shim needed to achieve specific
sharpening angles, like 10, 12, 15, 17 degrees.
My vestigial trigonometry skills are not quite up to the calculations.
Someone could even make a little stepped shim that
included each thickness.

if i am reading it correctly an easier way for it work would be making a grove in the middle of the sharpmaker base (a half circle) and then by placing different diameter rods under the sharpmaker, in the grove, you could achieve the desired angle. did i read it correctly? and if so i'll split the free lifetime knives with you that sal will give us when he uses it in the NEW AND IMPROVED SHARPMAKER..lol:D
i dont think it would be that hard to modify. strap a piece of wood next to the sharpmaker. drill a hole down the center of both (half wood, half into the plastic) and then go get yourself some wood dowels of different diameter. then get an angle finder and mark the dowels. you should be set. you could even use different pens and pencils of different sizes if you really want itto be a free mod, just go raid your junk drawer.
