G'day All

Another package containing Spyderco products arrived from my regular supplier yesterday and I was very happy to find it contained two ByrdRenches that I had ordered and a Byrd Cap :D .

I didn't have much time to appreicate them before the skittering of eight legs announced that Fred had heard me playing with them and he immeadiately confiscated both the Renches and the Cap and shot off outside.

Fred examining and comparing the ByrdRenches to my original SpydeRench while trying on my Byrd Cap for size and still playing with one of my Li'l Temps :D

Fred showing the different uses of a ByrdRench.

Fred then skittered off with both of the ByrdRenches down to my workshop and emerged a little while later to show me this:

Fred felt that the file might start to shred my trouser pocket and so he had fitted a short piece of clear plastic tubing over the file to stop it from rubbing against the edge of my pocket. He's not a silly Spyder that's for sure :p

I have been 'allowed' to kept one of my ByrdRenches so that I can use it at work, but the other one and my SpyderRench are firmly in Fred's Feelers

Now Fred, about my Byrd Cap? :D

Wait till Fred goes to sleep and slip the spare Tool out of his grasp(s)...

Fun review to read, keep them coming.

I like that Byrd Wrench, I might have to have one sent my way.

The problem is that I don't know where Fred sleeps  It's some where in the house but he skitters off so quickly when he goes to bed that I don't see where he goes. I will have to track it down though as I want my Spydies back!

Seriously though, that Spider is huge  What does Fred eat to get that big?

He has a steady diet of (BIG) bugs, which he catches himself, and 'Spydie Bites' (guaranteed to keep your large Arachnid friend in peak condition :D )

Now, I know we don't find many around here, but Ferreter, you sure Fred isn't a Byrd-Eating Spyder?

Please tell us how the Byrdwrench holds up!

Last week I got the chance to examine a whole bunch of new and current model Spydies (not mine!), pretty much the whole line-up. Which spydie kept coming back to my hands? The Byrdrench! It's manufacturing quality is amazing (no welding or MIM-type seams). It's on the must have list. Ingenious idea about the tubing around the file! Excellent idea!

Uhh... this just popped into my mind, Spyderco might need to update their Byrdwrench page (http://spyderco.com/catalog/details.php?product=241)...

I think the page is still correct in that it isn't really available yet if you want the instructions, pouch and pretty Byrd box for it. Both mine came in plain white boxes, no instructions or pouch.

I think Sal mentioned somehwere that they had so many dealers asking for it that some were sent 'bare' to dealers that really wanted them.

The rider down the bottom of the catalogue page saying that production models will have CE blades rather than PE blades is also a little bit out. Both mine have PE blades.
