Greetings you all:)

Just curious, why is there so much price difference between these Spydies?

They share the same steel, handle material and don't differ that much in length to make the difference justified IMO.

I hope someone can answer this:confused:

imo enduras and delicas are :spyder: starter knives. hence they are cheaper than most of the rest of the lineup. once you see how good of a knife that spyderco makes you start buying other more expensive :spyder: 's

I can see some grinding difficulties with the Police, over the Endura. The swedge, hollow grind, all on a narrower blade surface than the Endura. The Police seems thinner, and more refined to me. I can imagine it takes a little extra time and skill to assemble the Police.

I'd also love to know the reasoning behind the price difference, as I'm looking to purchase either one or the other for EDC.

Are there any specific advantages the Police has over the SS Endura?

Some insight would be great. Thanks much.

Perhaps its the target market for the two knives. The Police is a more agressive knife, and the Endura is mor of a utility one. Perhaps the price is to make it harder to afford for your average mall ninja.

Perhaps the price is to make it harder to afford for your average mall ninja. I'm not sure about that theory. What about all of the mall ninjas that keep Dark Ops (http://www.darkopsknives.com/) in business. Their knives sell for ~250 bucks!

Great question Spydutch, my guess would be volume sold.

But hasn't the Police always been one of the top sellers too?

Maybe we'll never know, I can't see the justification either, unless the police is bladeplay proof.

Police is more of a specialized knife. The grind and thinner blade also take more skill to produce.

If we were talking about any other company, we'd be entertaining the hypothesis that marketing research drove the pricepoints. It may be that market research shows people will pay more for a Police. Sophisticated companies set their prices not so much by what an item costs to produce, but what people will pay to obtain it.

Doesn't more options bring the price down? Example: E4 with 4 way mounting clip, also available in frn or SS (and hopefully G 10). Also, i would second that the swedge grind adds labor to the cost

My guess: More Enduras are sold, plus the FRN is easier to produce.

Maybe, but we're talking about SS
