View Full Version : Pink Cricket - in dire need of one...

SpydiePeople,

Ok, here's the deal. An Australian dude in this forum (Hi, Clay! *waving*) posted a very nice photo with a bunch of Crickets. One of them was pink and I NEED ONE!

Does anyone here know where I can purchase one right now? I did a Google search and I came up with a store I had never seen before that has not even updated its Cricket page since last year. Not a good sign.

Please help me overcome this great problem a.s.a.p.

John doesn't have any pink crickets. Inless he has run across a few. I asked him a couple of months ago. But it's worth a call. Larry at blade art might have one left. I asked for some with an order I placed earlier this week. Told them if he had 'em to ship 'em.

You don't want a pink one. Pink's a girly colour.

What ? ... Oh .. right, yeah I forgot. Hmm, yeah .. pink's a good colour

Good luck in your search.

Yog,

*evil look* Whatchasay????

I don't necessarily like pink, I admit I love dark colours, especially black and green... but that pink Cricket is just too cool to let pass. I have seen the pink Delica, but that one just does not do it for me. Must be the Cricket's shape and the wild pink.

G'day Kahz (*waving back* ),

Sorry I can't help either. I've done a few searches and come up with a blank. As others have suggested, your best bet is probably to post in the "Wanted" forums at Bladeforums and Knifeforums, and keep an eye out on Ebay. BTW also be on the lookout for the aluminium and carbon fibre versions, both very desirable .

In the meantime keep focussing on the 'hole' picture .

Clay,

Yes, I have already posted on the "wanted" section of Blade Forums. I will wait and see what happens. I did look for CF or AL versions of the Cricket, especially the CF, but both are also hard to find. Oh, well... the search continues. I will concentrate on the rest as well.

I went to an "Outback Steakhouse" last night. Good thing you don't have those there, I did not care much for the quality of the meat. Then again, I am from Cattle culture, so I am hard to please.

I hope you were successful in finding El Grillo.

I have done a few searches online for you but I have not found one either. I'll try calling a few places tomorrow...

Very well, thanks.

I just posted a WTB on blade forums for el grillo but I noticed you already did one on 11/17th. Great minds think alike!

After all this research on finding a pink Cricket, I've become quite fond of the Cricket. I have fallen under it's spell...

Now the question becomes, serrated or plain edged! Your opinion on this?

Whoever said here something about a hamster with fangs????

Serrated, of course, my dear sir.

Great minds DO think alike...

So, the quest continues...for the Pink Cricket, with teeth!

Speaking of, remember to brush. Brush, Often. I just finished the final steps of my first and hopefully LAST, root canal. OUCH!! Not only does it hurt your mouth, it hurts the wallet too! Double OUCH!!

Guess I'll have to hold of expanding my Spydie collection. Well, at least for now!

Lsaulog,

AGH!! That must really hurt both ways... When I had my wisdom teeth removed (now I have no wisdom at all ) my mom gave me clove to chew on for the pain. Try some, you might smell like soup the rest of the day, but if the pain decreases, hey, it's worth it.

You've got mail, Kahz!

BTW, since you'll be visiting the Great North, you might want to find out how close you'll be to Europe Bound, 383 King W, Toronto, ON M5V 1K1 (416)205-9992. As la_benge suggested, they may have a Pink Cricket in stock! I tried calling but since it's an International call, it's blocked from my office phone line.

FWIW the pink Cricket was only produced with a serrated edge, so plain edge is not an option. However I prefer plain edge on this knife (and almost every other ) because it accentuates the beautiful lines of the blade. I know I've mentioned this before but I use my aluminium Cricket as a model when my Year 7 students are designing plastic keyring ornaments. I get them to think of a worn river pebble (the inspiration for Sal's design) and show them the shapes of the scales and blade as examples. Needles to say my classes always produce the most interesting designs .

Jeff,

Well I'm as sure as I can be, although I've been known to have a senior moment or two . IIRC there was some criticism of both the pink Cricket and Delica when they were brought out for both being available as serrated only. It was thought that this might effect their target market (presumably women) and the circunstances where they might be used (those were the days when you could still carry knives on planes ).
