Howdy!
I'd like to see some more Spyders with blade lengths between 3 1/4" and 3 1/2". The only model I'm aware of that has this blade length is the Viele C42 {3 3/8"}, although there might be others that I'm not familiar with. There are a lot of models with 3 1/8" or 3 5/8" blade lengths, but lengths that fall within the quarter inch above are few and far between.
I don't know why that size is so poorly represented in the Spyderco catalog, but I'm guessing that it might have to do with large and junior models. If the knife's blade is 3.5", you don't have as many options with creating a junior or larger version of the knife, since the 3.5" length is in the middle of the road.
However, 3.25 to 3.5 inches long is a great blade length. It's long enough to cut cleanly through a sandwich, but short enough to provide good point control. Plus, some places (like Colorado and Denver) have laws against blades longer than 3 1/2".
So anyways, I'll bet there's already a design being developed with a blade length in that range and I just don't know about it yet. (Hmmm... Large version of Temperance with 3.5" blade? Now THAT would kick arse! <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>) It would be cool to see at least a couple of different knives with that blade length though.
