Is this another man's version of the "Porsche Syndrome"? heh.

And last time I checked, he has a pretty good story about being pulled over and the following conversation with a member of law enforcement....

Indeed he did. Here's the story for all to (re)read:D:

LOL...That happened to me once...I was pulled over for going a tad too fast in a 25mph zone...."sir may I see your license and registration" I complied "sir, are you carrying any weapons?" "Yes sir I am, about 13 blades, 4 firearms, assorted non-lethal self-defense tools and about 70 rounds of ammunition, and there is about 1,000 rounds in the trunk of the car and a Vest" "You are kidding right?" asked the officer, "No sir I'm not" at that point he placed his hand on his firearm, "Please place your hands on top of the steering wheel" I complied..."Where are all these weapons?" he asked...."I'm carrying them sir" I replied..."And why are you carrying them?" he asked..."I'm on my way to work" I replied. The officer then gave me a glaring stare and said, "I'm almost afraid to ask where you work"...I chuckled as I told him "Not the Post Office"
With my hands still frozen on top of the steering wheel I proceed to tell him that I was a Defensive Tactics and Firearms Instructor for Federal Law Enforcement Agents, and I could show him my Shield, ID, or Business card whichever he would like to see...he asked "which one is the easiest for you to reach" by this time I noticed he had drawn his firearm from his holster and was holding it at his side..."My business card is right here in my top shirt pocket...if you will allow me to reach for it I'll be happy to show it to you" ...If you will do that very slowly sir with your right hand leave your left on top of the steering wheel" I complied and handed him my business card...It was almost comical because as he read each line of the card he took small steps backwards away from the window of the car, he read Weapons Disarming, Weapons Retention, Suspect Control and Restraint, Firearm Training and Tactics, Vehicle Extractions, Speed Cuffing Techniques...(from 5 feet away from the car he asked) "can I see your ID?" "Yes sir you may" and pulled my shield and ID which was in the door pouch on my left hand side and handed it to him...after a good look He handed it back and said, "Sorry for the Inconvience Sir...may I keep your card?" "By all means" I answered, "and sir please do me a favor, as he held out his hand to shake mine... "try to keep your speed down just a little bit" "And One more thing..mind giving me a little feedback on how I handled the stop"...I answered "you done good, cept for the fact as soon as I told you I was armed you should have asked me to step from the car...put some cuffs on me...patted me down real good and then asked me all your questions" "I'll remember that" he said "and Thanks... you have a great day"

Outstanding story Doc.

After not being able to carry during my hospital stay it was nice to start EDC
again. Today is my new Blue Yojimbo (given to me by a fellow forum member
during some very low time, thank you again.) and a Gunting Lapu Lapu Corto
(working on a review for it).
Thanks to Doc for teaching me to appreciate the Yo thru all of his posts.

Holy cow!!!

Paul, that Calypso Jr with a custom handle is awesome. I actually think that it's a better handle than the factory designed. It looks like you could get all the grip on the handle without using a choil at all.

That knife is just pure awesome. Care to give a little history of it? Like what it's made of, what the liners are, who did it? I'm guessing STR did it.:)

As far as what I'm carrying for my "Springtime EDC"...

My new Navigator II is a work/office carry knife. It's with me daily. As soon as I get home I throw the Pacific Salt in my pocket and it is my "after hours" knife.

I've never carried a knife as large as the Pacific Salt but I figured what the hey. I'm not looking for trouble so hopefully I'll catch no grief about it anyway. :)

Im trying to keep it down to two or under. Usually Caly Jr, and Endura 4. But the D'Alllara always seems to find a pocket.
Caly in FRP
E4 in BLP
D'Allara clipless in change/watch pocket or carpenter pocket. (Fits quite well and nearly disappears.)

Deacon, didn't I just see that custom Caly somewhere up for sale? Or was that a different one, I swear Ive seen it before somewhere else. Looks gorgeous.

one thing I've noticed about my, spring carry habits is that I can they carry lighter knives like they aluminum walker,c25 can never spell the guy's name, And a few others all all light gentlemanly knives. I have also added to the Springs wardrobe a small Japanese folder that comes with a handsewn belt pouch in California Spring and heavier models just don't feel as comfortable as they do in shorts as they do in jeans in California Spring. Also from a tactical standpoint there's less heavy clothing to get through to reach that sub clavicle artery:p

Thanks David. The grip is excellent, but just like the original, I can only get three fingers on it if I grip it behind the choil. While some of the die-hard Calypso Jr fans may not appreciate the change in shape, I thought it was an interesting change of pace when I saw it up for sale on KnifeForums two months ago. (That may be where you remember it from, Daryn. :D)

This one's not STR's work. It was customized by another talented forumite, Dannyvi. The liners are titanium, and am guessing the back spacer/spring carrier is titanium as well. Scales are a combination of matte carbon fiber and ivory micarta. As unimpressed as I usually am by CF as a scale material, when used like this, to create a bolster effect, it is rather pleasant looking.

Hi Paul, awsome Caly, thanks for sharing the pics and for the background of this beautiful mod.

For my part, while in the morning I had my Adventura with me (big surprise ;) ), later in the afternoon I went hiking together with my familly - and I had no Spyderco with me, but an ugly balisong  And I blame Chucula and Scott and Cobrajoe and Tonydahose and al the rest who posted on the balisong thread for this. After reading, I couldn't stand the urge to take out my old butterfly, give it a few strokes and a flippin' we go... ;)

My Dear Friends,

Today's carry is a Spyderco Ed Schempp Full-Sized Persian and a Boker Plus CLB Designs WharCom folder. Other knives include a couple of SAKs (including a Cybertool 34) for grunt work.

I find that at the new job I am varying my primary EDC a bit more than usual. Yesterday was a Spyderco Waved Endura 4. The day before, my modded Spyderco Civilian SE. The day before that was my beloved Yojimbo.

Tomorrow? Who knows? :p

This past weekend, I was put on 'chores-detail'; breaking down our old paper pile, which included a lot of boxes. As messy as the chore was; I still 'dressed in style' with plenty of black and CF.

The ZDP Caly 3 wasn't phased by that chore, nor was the Streetbeat.:D
I even tried out my new Ladybug III, I like this one a lot! I didn't expect I'd like it better than the Jester, but I do!

Your right. They are smaller than I assumed. I've read the numbers on it but I can never quite picture that in my head unless its next to something I know.
Looks about the right size for an EDC FB.
