My parents are the best thing since sliced bread. They are my best friends and the only nuclear family I have (besides my husband nowadays), so they are my treasure. Of course, they can be real pains at times but, aren't we all? <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

Oh, and my dad is the reason why I love weapons and knives so much, so I have that to thank him for the rest of my life, among many other things.

My boys are still too small to trade me in! But, my 3 yr old has started to pickup my bad habits when I was young. <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

I have learned to appreciate the beauty and art of knives and weapons while growing up. As a father, I will share this with my boys as they get older. For right now, they're content with holding the fish while I remove the hooks!

Parents are a wealth of knowledge and love. I just wish there was more emphasis on family values on TV versus sex &amp; violence. I'm happy taking my boys fishing after watching the fishing experts on TNN! Wish I could say the same for some of my neighbors...<img src="sad.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>

I'm with you 100%. I don't fish (sorry Chinook) but I want my kids to share my love of the outdoors. My eldest daughter started abseiling when she was eight and both my daughters are competent skiers. My son has already been bushwalking and he's only 6 months old.

My girls really like my Spydies and get just as excited as I do when a parcel arrives. However there's always a lot of discussion about who's going to inherit what, which does make me feel older than I really am <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>. I gave my eldest girl her first knife for her eighth birthday.

I hate to say it but I didn't buy her a Spydie. After much deliberation I got her a Wenger SAK with a locking main blade scissors and a saw. I particularly wanted a locking main blade and she said that she would like the scissors. As it turns out she's probably used the scissors more than the blade. My next daughter's eighth birthday is coming up and I'm thinking of getting her a plain edge Jester. I think the plain edge is probably more useful for kids and easier for them to learn to sharpen. My son already has an engraved stainless Dragonfly which was given to him by some very special people around here <img src="smile.gif" width=15 height=15 align=middle>.
