There is no way that Benchmades are cool in any way Benchmades can not be a realtive to be as cool as spyderco and they did nothing but copy othere companies ideas.

Dude, what planet are you from? Both companies offer an excellent selection of knives. Is there anything specific about Benchmade products you don't like or are you just blowing off?

vlf_11, usually I am pretty diplomatic, but today, I find myself annoyed by your petty behavior.

Please go away. Your "thoughts" are adding nothing to this forum.

vlf_11,

I am sure we can all appreciate your passion for Spyderco and their terrific products. You've found the right forum for Sypderco Enthusiasts. A gentle poke at the competition is tolerated from time to time and it can sometimes bring about a good debate.

I think if you toned down your posts a little, we could all agree and share in our common interests.

Benchmade makes some fine products. If they didn't, they would not be where they are today. As to who makes the better knife, Benchmade or Spyderco, that would be a fine topic of discussion. You may want to check the General Information Discussion thread on Benchmades.

Hey why dont all you all just chile out damn you guys like Spyderco then why do you need Benchmade. You may think that they are cool but what the hell they do suck they can not do anything i use to have on they break, easily they break so easy that mine broke when i was carving my name into a piece of wood. That shows how derable there blades are and i use to have a Spyderco and i carved and did everything with it and it never broke. But then i gave it to my friend stupid me. So and i talked to a Empolyee when i wass asking about a knive he said "that Benchmades suck and they did nothing but copy Spyderco so there you go.
And dont talk******over the Internet your lucky i dont know you because if i did you would be on the ground crying so dont talk.

Benchmade makes a fine product, just like Spyderco and several other companies whose knives I carry and use. I have been in several situations where a Benchmade has saved my*****while doing something. I have also carried and used them hard, and probably abused them at times, never had one do anything but become dull on me, and that is easy to fix.

Benchmade does not appear to me to directly copy Spyderco... if you have proof of this, it might be interesting to all of us here.

Again, you posted this in the wrong forum anyway. It should be in general. You might want to calm your tone before a moderator decides to calm it for you. We come here to discuss things that are on topic, and in a civil manner. I think that everyone here would appreciate it if you would do that as well.

Hi vlf_11. I'd like to welcome you to our forum. However, I'd also like to say that your manner is quite hostile, you language somewhat disrespectful and your view somewhat narrow minded.

If you like Spyderco products, you might also consider that Spyderco is also an attitude. A positive attitude.

We try to avoid pissing matches here. You are welcome to hang out and offer opinion. Please try to keep it as mature as you are capable of. We really don't have time or interest to "sling sh*t around". There are other forums that delight in that form of entertainment, you might try to visit those if banter is your seeking.

Benchmade tries hard to make a good product. Certainly harder than many other knifemakers out there. Les deAsis, the president of Benchmade, is a personal friend of mine and I will extend my best effort to keep this forum professional with regards to our competition.

Thank you for your kind uderstanding and cooperation.

If anyone has anything negative to say, regardless of the topic, please keep it to yourself. Let's act in a mature fashion & lead by example. We're supposed to be positive & supportive of each other. We're not here to argue. For those who wish to act like children, grow up. Fake it if you have to....

Sal, You get my vote. Benchmade strives to be a good company with quality products. Some of us just happen to prefer Spyderco, and some of us chose to act like children. I like both companies & the products they offer so let's talk about something positive & support each others comments.....please behave people!

Mr. vlf_11,
I don't know you, but I still respect your opinion as a man. To my understanding, this entire forum was created by Spyderco as a positive, communal way to organize knife enthusiasts. I'm sure most will agree with me.... and to clarify things...no one ever called you a kid, but negative, hostile comments should be left out, since they are generally seen as childish. Once again, I will respect your opinion, but I must ask -please refrain from being negative. No one wishes to quarrel with you. I understand that Sal did not take your comments about Benchmade lightly. I do not care for negative feelings, I just really rather discuss than argue. Please accept this as a sign of respect.

First off.. this is the WRONG place to threaten anyone... there are too many very well trained individules here.
Second.. appearently .. that initial statement isnt actually your opnion! You stated that a clerck at a store voiced that opnion. Im guessing that maby you might be new and somewhat impressionable and thus came here for the opnion of others on the topic. I apriciate that. I would ask you, what is it that you feel they copied? With the exception of one line of knives with a hole in them there are little to no similarities in the two product lines.
With reguard to the issue of a BM knife breaking while carving.. most BM knives are not really intended for "carving" and ... carving .. true wood carving .. takes a level of skill that is aquiored over time.. the best of the will tell you they have snapped a tip off many knives while learning. How did your BM break? the tip maby?? Did you contact BM about your concern about the integraty of the knife you owned? Its been my expierence that BM has a pretty good reputation for customer service.. and even if they didnt replace the knife im sure they probably would have re ground the tip for you...hell.. if the knife gets dull and you dont want to sharpen it your self, BM will resharpen the knife for you! you cant argue with that kind of dedication to the product.
Remember this.. Knives are tools.. and like the tools you have in yoru garage, different tools are made to do different tasks.. you dont get a spanner wrench to replace a phillips screw, right? well.. likewise, you dont use a sleek tacticle knive for heavy cutting and general duty ware.. you use a knife more towards the utility purposes.. thats why spyderco is so popular.. its a utility knife with a distinctive flare for defencive capabilities.
I hope this helps you a litte.. I too am learning alot about knives in general .. and more so about spyderco, I just got my first spyderco.

I must agree with Mr. Nervous.....There ARE WAY TO MANY WELL TRAINED INDIVIDUALS here.....which is why I watch what I say. Hopefully, everyone will wise up & be very careful with what they say... they may be insulting some knife expert with lightning-fast reflexes...and let's keep the talk CLEAN & constructive, people. Ok? This isn't Jerry Springer....And I assume we're all grown up.

My fellow forumites,

Viewing this type of ranting makes me wonder if Hannibal has returned under a different handle.

Just imagine, threatening someone you've never even met and know nothing about; over the internet. What a foolish little person.

As usual, my advice is to completely ignore this one and not respond in any way.

Jeff/1911.

Jeff, I think you hit the nail square on the head this time.

We all start with 10 fingers. Those with Spydies have 9 to spare, Still need a thumb. Good thing I still have 8 to spare...

Hi Guys,
This is my first post here and I wanted to post in this thread just so I could say I was a part of it. Thanks!

BTW, BM's and Spydies can live in harmony together, right along with other knives, as the ecology of my EDCs will illustrate.

Hi Hoodoo. Welcome to the Spyderco forum.

Our normal threads do carry more depth than this one.

Hey Vlf_11, Losing your job the day before Chrismas sucks. A 2 year old girl drowns in a freak flood in Texas, that sucks. The only knife companies that "suck" are those that make things that look like knives but are really just "money making things".

Because, in your wisdom, you "prefer" Spyderco because of our effort, intelligence, forward thinking, etc., we really appreciate and respect your support.

As Americans, we seem to have the "flaw" of selecting the "one" and thinking that all of the others "suck". "All good, just different", IMO offers more.

Hoodoo- nice to see someone with similar tastes in knives. Big fan of the Opinels. Is that the Wenger Adventurer? Mine never leaves my pocket. Only one Spyderco? Gonna have to work on that!
