View Full Version : Always loved and wanted the Dragonfly, but...

When the Dragonfly was a new knife, I intended to get one but never got around to it.
Then came my metamorphosis where I no longer like knives that are pinned/riveted and cannot be user-disassembled. (For this reason I love the new Delicas, particularly my waved Delica 4.)
So now, even though I love the size and shape of the Dragonfly, I won't get one because so far, Spyderco has not released one that uses Torx screw construction.
I wish I wish I wish that Spyderco would re-release the Dragonfly with screw-together construction.
. . . Please??

Or, you could "take the bull by the horns", buy one, send it out to someone like STR, and have what you want within a month.

It's different than the Dragonfly, but the byrd Robin is a really nice small knife - the G-10 version can be disassembled with Torx and I assume the FRN version can too. Maybe worth trying, especially considering the low price? I have been very happy with mine.

gull wing,
That's a nice D'fly. Got any more pics of 'er? It would be nice to see the other side. Is that G11....or G10? Looks sorta transparent too. :)

Now THAT'S a coloured handle I DO like:cool:
BTW I just asked NGK if they have any play free SS D'fly's/SE left. If so I will get me another one:o
Strangely enough the SS D'fly is THE little big Spydie that fits my big mitt best.

I to would like to see this enhancement done to the Dragonfly! Don't let this stop you from getting one. My :spyder: edge model is several years old, and I once cut 6' of house trailer dry wall with ours, and it was still going strong. It's still tight too! My favorite small :spyder: easily! I long for a G-10 or macarta version.

Great looking knife, Gullwing. Is it linerless?

Glad you like! I am quite pleased with it too, it's one on my success stories. I did it myself, as an amateur, I have more busts than successes(kind of like life). Enjoy! G11, no liners, don't need, steel filler, lengthened 1/8"

Oh, for a Gent's knife, G11 is just beautiful.
I just ordered one of the new Spyderco etched SS Dragonflys today. I'll post some pics when I get it this week.

Gullwing your custom Dragonfly looks fantastic....
Yeah that green G11 on a linerless Dragonfly or Calypsojr would be just the ticket.... ;)

gull wing,
Thanks for the extra pics. You did a real nice job with that knife. I thought it might be G11 as I've not seen G10 that is semi transparent.
Again, really great job.

I think it's a matter of perspective. The thumb was closer to the camera than the knife.
Sweet lookin' Dragonfly...its a cool little knife.
