I have an L1 and was wondering if I put a clicky tail cap on it would it make it a single stage light at the high setting?

Which cap were you thinking of? I wasn't aware that you could put a clicky on the L1.

I'm not sure which clickie tailcap would fit the L1.. I would try it in a store to see if it worked before ordering it.
If you put a metal wire from the - end of the battery to the flashlight body you should see the same setting as a clickie tailcap would give you.
I think the old L1 used a resistor to get the lower level, but I'm not sure about the current model.
This does take away the main advantage of the L1 over the other SF led lights so I don't see why you would want to do this:confused: There is also a greater chance of a clickie failing than the original switch.

Right at this time I use my 2 Surefire rechargables the most. I wish that they would make a "clicky" for the 9an and the L7  .
I think Jeff has the right idea. Let's all become "squeaky wheels" so to speak and maybe the good folks at Surefire will cave in over time.
I am to the point to where I think that a good flashlight is just as necessary as a good knife  Yes Sir The Spyder bit me, Then I saw the LIGHT :D

I just wanted to make it a simple one stage but after using it for a couple days I like the low setting for use in the truck while driving.
I made this one an emergency light and will get an L4 for a high out put light.
