Just today I stumbled accross Lignum Vitae wood being used for guitar picks. That must be the mostest-toughest use for a wood. I prefer stone picks, but they break when you drop them on a hard surface. I've seen STR's pics of Lignum scales. This wood is so dense and naturally resin saturated it will not benefit from (attempted) stabilization. I would like to see examples of this material in person.
Anyone else have ideas for exotic scale materials? Bonus points for materials having a rat's a** chance of ever being used.
Various stone/synthetic glasses are my choices but I'd freak as I dropped my quartz scaled Spydie. Quartz is tough and cool but don't drop it (aughhh...!!!) done that been there with quartz guitar picks. Bestest of all is finding one with your Hoover after you've lost it in the carpet. Keeklisheeshwhoospshhhkkkhhlat. Silence... another pick gone to pick heaven. Lucky if the drive belt is not destroyed.
Any weird (not so weird) candidates?
I want one of each. I am sufficiently weird to appreciate all to play with.
Almost all my quartz picks are gone to heaven. I need other cheap picks to play with.
BTW quartz picks are not usually cheap. I just happened to inheret a box full. They are nearly gone now. :(:(:(
