I just got my Meerkat from the SFO - Excelent knife as usual. The only recomendation I have is to improve the clip. I saw a prototype with a more 'standard' style clip that I think would be better for the knife. Also, I think the reverse 's' blade style would be excelent for this knife.
Can't wait for the other 2002 models to be avaliable!

they are planing in a reverse s blade in the near future, and in the clip area I think this is a great design it goes so deep inside the box, that does not look like you have a knife with you
I want all of them

I like and use a Meerkat daily. I especially like this clip for this size knive. Since the knife is lightweight and rather short, the aggressive grasp on the front pocket corner that this clip style affords is warranted necessary to keep the knife from creping out/off the cloth when you sit and bend.My 2 cents. The Q's had clips sort of like these also and I, for one, am glad that this type of clip is on this particular knife.
On another note, I have noticed quite a bit of slop developing in the knife; side to side blade slop (play). When closed, I can see daylight between the liners and inner handle components. Is this just my knife, or are other Meerkat owners/users getting this play?

Yeah I love mine too. I had to send mine back because of the blade play. I love the design though and i can't wait to get it back.

I keep hearing about the Meercat but have not seen one. Can anyone post pictures or a link to pictures? I am going out of my mind trying to see one!

Happy 100th to me. This pic was originally posted by chinook. There are actually two meerkats in it.
Hello Mr. Eberhart, and welcome to the Spyderco Forum. I love my Meercat, but I agree that the clip could be "redesigned." I have found the clip to be almost too tight when trying to pull it out of your pocket. I really had to tug to get it out. I took the clip off and bent it to be easier to deploy (without falling out of the pocket) but this took some patience and quite a bit of time. A more standard clip would be an improvement IMHO. Other than that I love the design and lock mechanism of the knife. It's fun and practical.
Just one question guys,
I'm trying to get a meekat to my left-handed wife for christmas. Can anyone tell me whether the clip is reversable? I'v never got hold of one but it seems to me it could be unscrewed and be fixed on the left side of the scale. cheers.

Hey Spin, does that count as 7 questions? Just ignore those error messages as you'll find your post has gone through anyway. BTW I usually only get error messages if I click on the 'Show topics from last day' box, I don't seem to get them if I open the forums individually.

Thanks for the pics. Sweet knife but I didn't see it listed on the product page- what is the price like on them and why aren't they listed? Or am I just blind?

We don't list them on the site until all the dealers have their's and there is none on a backorder list at the factory. They sell for 54.95.

I just bought one on Saturday. It's a great little knife. I like the solid feel and the great lock. Although it is a small knife it fits great in my paws!

I love the clip on the Meerkat it is the lowest profile knife I own. You can't realy tell what it is untill it is out of the pocket.
Some laws permit, what honor dose not.
Where is my Meekrat? I ordered from Knife Outlet a month ago w serrated blade. Now, they say the knife is not available from the manuf. I think the wire clip is one of the many outstanding features of the Meekrat. I just cant seem to get one.
Where is my Meekrat? It was advertised for sale by Knife Outlet and AFTER my order they informed me the product is not available from the manuf. Now it is a month later. I think the low profile wire clip is the best of many features of the M. I just can not get one!
Thanks sal
But is the problem due to the so called phatom lock? its on the left side of the handle isn't it? so if the clip is moved to the left side it couldn't function is that what you mean?
well, then the wife's christmas present goes to me then...
Where can I get a Meekrat? I ordered from KnifeOutlet and they say not availabe from manufacturer.
Meerkat's are already available at A.G. Russell, just checked.
