Whats the best way of removing the black paint from my :spyder: clip?

I've heard "fingernail polish remover" but noone ever mentions any steps needed.

Oh.. and I don't have access to a bead/sand blaster of any kind.

The only thing I have is stuff you would find around a "normal" house.

Thank you!

Here's a great thread to read for that info. Funny......I was looking at doing this to some of my D4 clips tonight.

I have used kitchen scrub and cleaning powder for one of the Ti clips I plan to customize with flaming. Took around 15 minutes to get it right. If you want a pollished one, I would use some buffering wheel.

Get a pack of the med and fine sanding buffs for a dremel,They work better than any thing I have tried. If you do not have a Dremel you can pick up a basic model for about 15.00.

I just let my clip soak in paint remover for some time, rinse it off and start sanding. 600 gritt then 800 gritt finished off with 1200 gritt.

It usually takes me 10 minutes. Except the one on my Military. Man! that's one durable coating on that clip:eek:

Took me about half an hour to get the clip shiny.

I soaked mine in nail polish remover, then used a Dremel with a wire brush to take off the paint.

Same here, but then I followed up with some of the polishing bits. I'm not sure it really helped any.

I am just going to order a couple Adventura clips for my Delica 4's. Already nice and shiny and have the lanyard hole (the SS Delica clips don't). :)

there is a ''rust ereaser'' on the market. I don't know the companies name, but its a brown 3/4x1x3.5'' ... well, ereaser, does wonders on surface rust, but if you take the clip off the knife and give it a rubdown, you can be done in under five minutes. It leaves no scraches, and will reveal whatever grind marks are under the coating. I've done this on the E4, and any other clips of various brands, thew ear away quick on real rough corners, but can last anywhere between twenty to fifty clips.

I know this doesen't help much but they come in a red bulk dealer box of about twenty, and can be individualy aquired for about 4.00 $U.S. Search www.eknifeworks.com and you'l probably find it under acessories or the like, its also in the catalouge from time to time.

Good luck- Steeltiger

Well last night I successfully removed the paint from my E4's clip.

I didn't have any sandpaper or other tools so I looked around the house for items I could use.

I wound up soaking the clip in nail polish remover for 90 minutes then used a steel wool pad on it for 5 minutes.

My BRG ZDP Endura 4 looks so much better now.
