I don't have a Cricket(yet) but I do have a Mouse. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I LOVE THIS KNIFE! The size is ideal for general utility. The aluminum handle is oversized for the size of the knife (in a similar way as the Military) so it's really comfortable and the finish feels great. I've been carrying mine every waking moment since I got it a couple of months ago and the finish looks the same as the day it arrived. The fasteners in the handle, the lock and the clip are polished steel and fitted into the greyish aluminum they give a really pleasing "mechanical" look to the knife. I generally prefer tip-down but the small size of the Mouse makes tip-up just as easy. The clip is typical Spyderco, three screws, solid and functional. The lock is also solid (what'd you expect?) I've had no problems even when doing relatively heavy cutting. The blade is my favorite shape (drop point) and sturdy (read "thick".) This is my first experience with VG-10 and I'm very impressed. It came super sharp and stayed that way for much longer than I expected. Every time I figured, "It must need a sharpening" I'd check it and it still shaved. When I finally put it on the Sharpmaker (with the help of the video, thanks Joyce and Beth), easy as pie and right back to a razor's edge. 1.875" may not sound like much but this thing cuts like crazy! I think Tim and Sal snuck an inch in on us somewhere. The thumb rest behind the opening hole is nicely grooved and the hole itself is also oversized relative to the overall package. To sum up, I like the Cricket and I'll probably get one at some point when I'm looking for a new gadget. BUT! The Mouse is without a doubt the finest small knife I've ever seen, used or heard of. No kidding. If you need or want (I sometimes have trouble telling the difference) a small cutting tool, you can not go wrong by getting a Mouse.

I just got a new Mouse, and I've got an older Cricket with Aluminum scales. The Mouse feels like a lot more knife than the Cricket does when it's in your hand, but it IS bigger and heavier so... Both blade shapes are useful to me (both cutting edges are about the same overall length), but the Mouse has better (VG10) steel, and the Cricket has a Liner Lock like the Toad, and is therefore more fun to click open and shut over and over
If you are looking at an FRN Cricket, I'd say go for the Mouse, it's MUCH nicer overall. Even if you can find an Aluminum Cricket, the Mouse is still more nicely made with it's Almite finish and radiused scales, but it's a really close race.
Shoot, just go ahead and buy both already, you're going to HAVE to sooner or later anyway
