I know that many of us like to collect the discontinued Spydercos. I wuld like a for sale forum for the old, discontinued, and hard to find spydercos. It would be limited to individuals so that their would be no competition for dealers to be annoyed. I would volunteer to moderate.
Bladeforums has a for sale forum but I would like to have a place to sell and trade the models that I usually can't find in stores. It would be cool to have section devoted to
all the Spydie fans.

Good idea. I have also been keeping my eye out for old, discontinued Spydies.... They're just difficult to find 'cause when I find 'em, the owner doesn't wanna sell 'em.

I'd look. I keep looking for cool older (and newer) knives.
There's a fine line between "it's a hobby" and mental illness.
A good idea, but your not getting any of mine
You might want to include dealers though, because as Zatoichi says individuals are often reluctant to part with thiers.

I back up this idea, but Yog's comment is something to consider.

I think this is a great idea!
Just wish I had the $$ handy for that Blue Native that a certain "Sharp1" picked up on eBay!
That's ok, a certain someone will be seeing pink soon!

There was a guy who used to post in the SpyderCo forum who seemed to specialize in selling disco'd Spydies. I've lost his URL. Anybody remember him?

Hi Sharp1,
Nope, still have 1day, 13hrs. left for the pink bug.
One thing that drives me insane...Waiting...
Patience is a funny thing. Sometimes ya' got it, sometimes ya' don't!
I've got the serrated FRN Native and can't seem to stop carrying it. I'm running out of room in my front pockets! The blue Native is a beauty. Congrats on acquiring that one. I think I'll setup a Spydie Fund. Kinda like a Christmas Fund or Vacation Fund... XX dollars per pay period....hmmmm.
Good deeds are rarely seen in this day and age. It's a shame, really.
I just happened to be in the right place at the right time. I haven't discussed the "good deed" yet with a certain other person. I wanted to close the deal first. I mean, what if I get outbid? Anyway, we'll see what happens.

IMHO the best way to approach the Ebay autions is to wait until the last 15 seconds of the action and bid the highest dollar amount you are willing to pay. If you bid before this, you encourage someone to counterbid and that drives up the price. If you lose the aution, doing it my way, you won't pay more than you are willing to pay.
Just a thought,

Good advice, CalypsoKid, thanks.
I do remember seeing that guy who specialized in discontinued Spydies but I don't remember the handle or URL. I'd try doing a search on the archive threads.
In the meantime, I guess we'll all search for our discontinued Spydies on BF & eBay...

Agreed on Ebay tactics. If you want to win a bid, wait until about 20 seconds is left (depending on your internet connection, YMMV).
If it is a reserve auction though, you need to bid early to drive the price up to the reserve price if the seller puts a low opening price on the thing.
