collector status?

I see a number of members who post here are collectors with some kind of membership number. Can someone please explain how the Spyderco collector Club? works.

This has been covered in much more detail in other threads, so you get the short version here. The Spyderco Collector Club can be joined by contacting Spyderco Customer Service. There are different membership levels, one is new models only, the other is all variants. Usually the first 200 of each new model and each new variation of a model are engraved with the collector's club numbers and offered first to the number holder. It doesn't always work out to be the first 200, and they don't always get them first, but that is the general idea. One thing is for certain, you WILL get yours, even if the entire run is sold out.

The down side is, to be absolutely certain of getting everything you want, you about have to sign up for all variants, which means you are committed to buying one of everything that comes along, and that can run several thousand dollars over the course of a year. The dealer you go through to get your knives may or may not allow you to refuse knives.
