Anyone else see this movie?

It is based on the experience of a US Navy pilot, Dieter Dengler, in the jungles of Laos after he is shot down early in the Vietnam war. When I was in Naval Air, we studied this guy because he escaped from a Pathet Lao prison camp and made it back!

I found the movie difficult to watch at times because it was so authentic, at least in the jungle parts. There was no attempt to add Holywood glamour to Dengler or his travails. I appreciate that, even though it could be hard to watch. Bottom line, there was nothing he would not do (nothing he would not eat) to survive, and he made the most of the resources at hand.

He made knives of spent shell casings. They were not much to look at, but they did cut.

It is good that someone made a movie of this.
