First off, welcome to the Forum!
The number on the blade means the knife was engraved for the Spyderco Collector Club. There are 201 available spots in the collector club and the knives are engraved accordingly. The "V" stands for variation, because there were other Harpy's produced before the CF one's, so the CF is a variation of that model. Hope this helps! ;)

Thanks for the quick response and welcome. Are they relatively rare? There were 1200 of the CF Harpies made, 600 each in plain edge and serrated. To some, that would make them relatively rare, while others, myself included, would consider them relatively common.

Is your CF Harpy serrated? If it's a plain edge, then we have a problem here. I happen to own 156V too!

Here's a picture
That seems strange. How come both the PE & SE models are designated as variants? Then what is the main piece for the CF Harpy?

What a coincidence! You know these two belong together as a set so the question is do I sell mine or do you sell yours. :D

Someone convince me that I need one of these:D I don't currently own a hawkbill and I really like CF. Is $99.00 a good price for this knife? I've searched unsuccessfuly for the Matriarch so my attention has shifted to the CF Harpy.

I'm unertain in your question, but I guess the main piece is the C08 Harpy SS (started in 1987) as the former C21 Merlin (changed later to C08 Harpy FRN) came 1993.

STP has a 30% off coupon through tomorrow....makes a CF Harpy a measly $70!!

If you sign up for Sierra Trading Post's flyer, they always email coupon codes and links to activate coupons. Right now the current one is 30% off of a $50 order through tomorrow. If you sign up, you'll probably get an email very shortly

Hi whitefeather! I paid around that amount for my CF Harpy; I really had no idea if it was too much or not but I jumped on the opportunity to have one of those, didn't know if they'd be around much longer! :D

Well, I just bought another knife thanks to you guys!:D :D
I signed up for STP's email flyer a couple of days ago. I never really noticed the 30% off coupon nor did I realize the Harpy on their website was Carbon Fiber.
(you don't want me to be your eyewitness if you have to go to court:rolleyes:)
They took so much off the price of the CF Harpy I had them throw in a SS Kiwi for good measure. The whole thing was less than $120 shipped.
This will be my first hawkbill and only my second serrated edge. From what I've read here, that is a pretty good combination.
Thanks for the heads up!!

I signed up @STP but have yet to see a discount coupon:( I'm stubborn and probably won't order without it.) Aside from that I have to watch my budget a little. This month so far I've purchased a Blue Yojimbo, CF BG42 Mili, 2 Vagabonds and 1 Navigator:D
OOOOPS: Forgot one..an Ocelot

I don't know why it took me so long to pull the trigger on this one. It's one sleek looking knife. I never got to handle one before buying it, and it's smaller than I expected. I thought it would be almost identical in size as the Tasman Salt, but it's not. In one way that's good, and in another it's not. The smaller size makes it nice as an EDC. There's not much of a thumb ramp on it though and there's no jimping, so there's not much to hold on to. I can't see it being used very hard. It's a lot heavier than the tasman, though, and it feels really solid. A little jimping would have made a big difference. I'll post a few more pics in the gallery

if it's not unethical, perhaps she could share that promotion code with the group. I've had my eye on that Redbone kiwi for a while, and a 30% off it might well be in my price range.

that 30% is over. there are new coupons all the time if you're signed up for dealflyer. some you have to activate through a link in your email, so there is no code to share

Also, you can do google search for sierra trading outpost + coupon and always find something, but 30% isn't that often. I got it with e-mail only once within a year and if you activate from one computer and forward e-mail, it wouldn't work from second, at least, this was in my case.
