As you can probably tell I am debating over a Centofante or a Native ....no matter which I would get one in PE. Which would you urge me to get and why?

And please excuse my ignorance, but what is that button on the side of the Centofante for?
Krazie,
Personally, I like the Native better, especially the Native II in SS (I know it's AUS-10, but I like the sleek look and the weigh of the knife, plus, for the kind of use I give to it I don't mind, I am not a metallurgy expert). The Centofante I have handled and gave one to a friend as a present. Many will say it has "better" steel for the blade, but I don't find the design "as comfortable" to open as a native (not implying it's not a good knife). The Native to me is more of a workhorse than the Centofante, and I find it much more comfortable in my hands. Try handling both and get an idea which one will work best for you. Also, consider the Centofante is discontinued and may be more of a collectible.
The "button" on the Centofante is a securing device so the blade won't close on you by accident. It's a "break" so to call it for the linerlock and it functions by sliding it when you open the blade.

Hmmm ok thanks. I would get the Native in SS if I get the Native And yes the Centofante is discontinued so I might be wary of "hurting" it. I was and am leaning towards the Native, so chances are I will end up with a Native. Since I can get the Native considerably cheaper probably I might have enough money for another knife...would you suggest the Mouse? I have seen you talking about this knife a lot, but I don't see it on the Spyderco site.
Thanks for the education on the button

Krazie,
Well, if you get a Centofante and don't like it, you can always re-sell it for a good price, being that it's a collectible, and then buy two knives with the money.
Mouse, the magic word. Yes, remember it's also a bit pricy, at least 90 bux. I just say this since I have no idea how much you plan to spend on two knives. You won't find it on this site, but try:
www.blade-tech.com
www.agrussell.com
www.knifecenter.com (it goes 10 dollars more here, in the Spyderco/Wegner section)
I hope this helps.

Well I asked all my relatives for money for Christmas so it depends on how much they give me as to which knives I get Plus I am gonna try to get a job when I turn 15 in March but not at a grocery store or fast food place. Maybe Toys-R-Us, somewhere where I would fit in and still get paid The job would aid in my quest for Spydies
Thanks for the sites !

krazy, you should get a job at a r.e.i. or some other outdoor sports store where they sell spydercos. you have a great deal of knowage on the subject and could recomend the best one for the task the customer would need it for.

I could try and get a job at my local CMT Specialty Sports....but they only have a few Spyderco knives...and I am not much of an athletic person, so I don't know if I would do good working in a sporting goods store... Dick's Sporting Goods might work however. I'll never know until I try I might go for Dick's Sporting Goods because they are closer, and since they don't sell Spyderco knives...maybe I could put in a word for them to start

We have a Dicks in Knoxville and it would be nice if spyderco could contact them about carring some of there line. For such a large well stocked store they carry a very small line of knives and none of them are high end and not really even med end.The best knife I saw in the store was a Gerber International to me that is a shame.
Krazie-Find a gun store that does not carry knives and talk them into handleing Sypdercos and hire you to keep up inventory and sell them.Maybe they could pay you half your salery in spydies and half in cash.

No law abiding gun shope here would do that Since I am fourteen, going on fifteen in March which will be when I get my job...it is illegal for any adult to sell or give me a knife! That is why my Dad has to pay for the knife..then hand me the knife.. Stupid law really. The gun shop would also probably require me to know my weight in gun info which I don't...just Spydies and still with Spydies ihave tons to learn. Dicks or CMT would be a better place for me to work. A MAJOR plus is that CMT here carries Spydies but not many...a Delica Lightweight, a Starmate, a Rescue, a Snap-It and Endura...buuuut if I worked there maybe that could change I would really like to work at CMT but I don't know if my Mom would want to drive me out to CMT every morning as compared to Dicks
