Is the 440A gerber is currently using the same 440A which was used in the BRK native???

I bought a gerber fastdraw at wal-mart and I didn't know what it was comprised of. I looked at gerbers site and about **** my pants when I saw 440A as its heart and soul...da*n...:(

The heart and soul of the blade is the heattreat, it makes all the difference.
If it is done well, it may not outperform a good heattreated S30V blade, but it will not be crap.

I'm guessing that it isn't even close. The steel on the BRK Native came from Camilluls. It also depends on where the knife was made.
