View Full Version : Has anyone compared the Chinook with Buck 880 Strider?

Since they are both very heavy duty folders, I am just wondering which one is tougher. Has sal ever considered a custom collaboration model with strider?

How about the bob lum? Since they both got tanto blades.

I think that golem is right in wanting to compare it with the chinhook, as that is a tougher knife than the Lum. While I do not have a chinhook, I do have a buck strider mini spearpoint and know that it is a very tough little knife. I think that it would be tough to tell which one is tougher, just because they are both so well designed and built.

Don't think the Chinook & the Strider are on the same page when
it comes to design intent. Both are tough folders that can be classed
as "knives" but the Chinook is more for tough everyday while the
the Strider is tough "I'll use it as a prybar if I need to" use. Once
you get past the cutting edge they become two diffrent "support
systems" to the edge.

i have never seen the strider. is the strider a more heavy duty knife that the chinook?

The buck strider is defined as a tactical knife. that meaning that it is a knife that you wouldn't worry quite as much when using it for non knife things. It is sturdy in its construction - one example of that is that the blade is 1/4 thick! twin titanium liners and locks. some worry about it because it is a liner lock, but it is extremely strong.
