I was wondering what Yojimbo's retail for now? What should one generally expect to pay? Is it possible to find one new or unused? What is their overall availability? Is the Blue G-10 any more rare than the black? If anyone knows of a great place to get one, let me know...

First of all I recommend that you get a Blue one. For one thing they are much easier now to get ahold of. Also you'll save a few $$ getting a blue one rather than a black one.

Now I know this will shock you>> but the only difference between the blue Yo and the Black Yo is the color>> other than that they are the exact same knife. As soon as I get back to work I'll be getting another couple of blue ones.

Also for city carry and carrying where you have draconian knife laws it is much better to have a blue one. They look a lot less intimidating. Not to mention that the blade is usually plenty short enough for even the most restrictive of knife carry zones.

Better not wait too long because I'd say by next summer the Yojimbo will be very highly sought after and supplies will be short. good luck ;)

Thanks JD, I personally prefer black G-10, but I would have no problem with a blue one. Is $117 a decent price to pay for one?

$117.00 sounds reasonable. John F. Jensen is still showing some in stock at $108.00.

Thanks, if the site I'm currently looking at is out of black G-10, then I will order for John!

I seen a blue one on Ebay for $90 as recently as a week or 2 ago. It was a "buy it now" option too. I was very tempted but being temporarily out of work I got to watch my coins for a while.

I like the Black color wise myself but if the Yo ends up being an SD lifesaver I could care less what it looks like.

The main reasons I'm steering you towards the blue ones is that they are still readily available, they're cheaper and there's no performance difference at all.

Even though I like the Black better color-wise I still think that the blue G-10 is not a bad shade of blue at all. It's funny that they have the same color scheme with the Dodo as well. But I guess not when you consider that they are both Golden Colorado knives.

The other company didn't get back to me so I ordered a blue one from John Jensen.

You won't go wrong dealing with John Jensen. I've dealt with him in the past. He's truly a great guy to deal with.

I'm wondering if Sierra Trading Post might have a few more of them?

They surprise you at times with what they come up with.

Thanks for you help. It is much appreciated. I apologize for inundating you forum regs with asinine questions, but I do sincerely appreciate all of the advice/help you guys tirelessly give.

I checked Sierra to no avail.

Is the Civilian considered disco'd as well? I've been meaning to purchase that one as well...

NO the Civilian is still in limited production from what I've been told. It's smaller counterpart the Matriarch is out of production. But with it's surging popularity and SD blade purists coming to full appreciation of the model it wouldn't surprise if they brought it back on a limited sprint run.

You shouldn't have any trouble at all running down a Civilian. You will have a dent in your wallet because that is one model I've never found at a discount. Just bite the bullet and fork out your $130 to $150 and you'll have one.
