:spyder: I was wondering if g-10 would take dye? I'd love a purple Yojimbo and I have two blue ones :o a little bit of red dye and I'd have a purple one, right? Aniline dye, maybe? Would I be able to "fix" it so it wouldn't leach out into my hands or pocket? :spyder:

If I remember right G-10 is supposed to resist solvents and such, so dying it might be difficult.

From what I've been told you can color virtually anything. I've never tried to color G-10 myself but I believe that it can be done. I certainly don't think that Dye would hurt G-10 but if it is solvent resistant then it will resist about any chemical treatment.

My first attempt to color G-10 I think I would try to use some kind of laquer or polyurethane based paint. Both coatings have a very hot solvent base and adhere good to certain surfaces.

I'm interested to know this myself. I wouldn't even mind having one of my Dodo models in nuclear or hunter orange  :spyder:

:spyder: huh, so when people talk about g-10 loving wd-40 they're not talking about it soaking in, just cleaning the surface? :spyder:

Once manufactured, can a Corvette be dyed? Or a surfboard? Or a fiberglass hulled boat? If so, then there's a chance G-10 could as well and if not, then probably not, since the materials - polymer resin and fiberglass - are pretty much the same.

Huh. I would have thought porosity would have made the difference. For example, the hull of my hobie-cat was smooth and glossy, thus I wouldn't expect much of anything to adhere to it. G-10? Who knows! Only one way to find out...I'll be watching this thread!
