I have a ss rookie that has a lot of scratches on the handle. How do you remove all the lines and scratches from a ss handle? Thanks.

Rookie,
Welcome to the Spyderco forum!
I have a S/S Police that I used a "scotchbrite" pad on and it worked well. These are made by 3M, there are different grits usually course, medium and fine. A kitchen or bathroom sponge with a scrubber on can work too. Try a small area first to test the finish on. If the scratches are deeper try 2000 grit wet or dry sandpaper with water. Good luck!

Thanks, the scratches are not too deep so a "scotchbrite" pad should work.

Hi Rookie! Welcome to Spyderland!
To get fine scratches out of steel, I use a 600 grit sanding film. It gives a very highly polished appearance.
Also, if you get an error message after posting, ignore the error. That cuts down on double posts.
In the land of knives, Spyderco IS king, BTW.
Keepin' it real...real sharp, that is.

Thanks for the tip. I'm just starting out so sorry about the double(or triple) posts.

Man, if you worry much about the scratchs, you should not use your SS spyderco. Come on, like most of us will do, try to love those scratchs. The scratchs you made on the ss handle is your personal signature and gives soul to that spydie.
Rookie,
Listen to golem, the scratches show how much you love to use your knives. They end up being like fingerprints as well, gives the knife some personality (knifeonality? ). I know the first scratch just looks plain bad, but once you get to the second, third, etc., they acquire a new meaning.
Take this from a Native II SS recent lover. Even almite with scratches looks good after a while.

Yeah, but it is such a nice knife(all ss rookie) when it does not have any scratches.

Hi! Rookie,
Welcome to the forum! Though I don't have a ss rookie, I have a ss police and it's my favorite EDC since I got it from ebay. Believe me, I know exactly what you feel about the ss beauties, and so do most people here. Remember, using a knife is the best way ( in my opinion, the only way) to show respect to the knife and the knife maker.
And your favorite rookie can never get his "born rights" if you always keep it from getting scratchs on its surface. A knife is a knife, but not a crystal. There's a Chinese saying that "Scars are the pendants of valor for a man". I think it's also right for knives. Believe, scratchs on the surface will never make it less beautiful.

hehe i know what you guys mean, my harpy has its own personality, every time i looka t it theres a story to think of behind every scratch, theres one where i caught it on some barbed wire thru my pocket, if it wasn't there it would have been my leg. theres one on the blade which came from my very first ever attempt at sharpening a knife, theres a dent near the top where i dropped it on the floor at my aunties farm in france, loads more too, i use 1200 wet and dry to get rid of the little scratches, gives it a nice brushed look which matches my zippo
