Hi Sharp1,
I think you're on to something here!
It's a terrific idea, but of course, cost is going to be the major issue and as you know, the Golden guys & gals are usually up to their eyeballs in work. Admin would be a bear.
But, I DO think it's a great idea. I mean, where else *should* a custom Spydie come from other than Golden?
If the Wizards of Golden were to put a Custom shop together, I think you and I would be the first ones in line! Imagine this, getting the entire 2002 lineup in CF with your name etched across the VG-10 blades!
"Hope for the best. Be prepared for the worst. You'll never be disappointed."
It's an interesting notion, which we have entertained in the past. It's a lot more difficult that one might imagine. At this time, we do not have the manpower to carry out such a mission. We would need a custom knifemaker and administrative staff. I'm not confident that the "custom shop" could support the costs.
If a custom maker were available, we would find more effective use for thewm in our R&D dept than using them for a custom shop.
Perhaps some time in the future. AT this time, I don't think we're large enough to handle the task effectively.

Thanks for the reply Sal,
We'll get by on sprints for now!

A custom shop would be neat, and detrimental to one's wallet, but I would rather see Spyderco focus on the development of "F1" grade clipits.

Carlos, Once again I am stumped. What are "F1" grade clipits? Thanks.

Hi Sharp1,
Scroll down the technojunkies forum page to a post I made on 5/13 for the full scoop.

Carlos, Thanks for the steer. Oh, F1. Now I get it! Actually, I would appreciate F1 knifes more than Customs in the long run. Customs often outgrow the charm (read-traded) and a true F1 will always perform and fullfill. Thanks, and you folks sure talked up the techhead stuff a lot more back then. Guess you got it all off your minds.

Ran out of novel ideas I guess.
